BULLDOG LANE, KY. — The Lawrence County Board of Education held their regular monthly meeting Feb. 19, 2019 at 6pm at the L.C.H.S. Library. The Hometown Hero was presented with LC Good Samaritan and this month was National School Counseling Week.

The Board of Education wasted no time as they approved the agenda and announced Raymond Junior Dixon as a Good Samaritan to an LC Family Member. Mr. Dixon played a major role in saving teacher Mary Hall’s life. She was traveling in her car when she became disoriented and had to make the decision to pull in Mr. Dixon’s driveway. Right away without thought he was able to offer aid and drove her to the emergency room where his wife was on duty as a unit secretary and helped in getting her treated quickly. She was suffering from a brain tumor and they were able to do emergency surgery saving her life. Mr. Dixon is also WSAZ  ‘Hometown Hero’ and they plan to interview him next week. Mrs. Hall with tears of joy, joined Mr. Dixon as Dr. Fletcher presented him with the award.

Dr. Fletcher moved on with honoring LC Guidance Counselors. Susan Little Counselor of Blaine, Angel Ward Counselor of Fallsburg Elementary, Mrs. Misty Burton LEES, Mrs. Catina Ward from Louisa West Elementary, Mrs. Tamra Thompson from LMS, Mrs. Mary Adams from LCHS and Mr. Scott Johnson from LCHS.
