LOOKOUT! GRANDMA’S GOT A GUN!

ELDERLY LAWRENCE COUNTY, KENTUCKY WOMAN ARRESTED AFTER POINTING LOADED GUN AT HER FAMILY MEMBERS AFTER HEATED DOMESTIC VERBAL ARGUMENT

UNHAPPY SENIOR CITIZEN STATED TO DEPUTY SHE WAS NOT THREATENED OR ASSAULTED; SHE JUST GOT ANGRY AFTER REPEATEDLY ASKING EVERYONE TO LEAVE HER HOME

APRIL 10, 2024 –  written by WADE QUEEN

GUN-TOTING GRANNY: MAXINE MARCUM, 77, OF BLAINE, KENTUCKY; WAS ARRESTED AT HER HOME ON THURSDAY, APRIL 4, AFTER SHE POINTED A LOADED FIREARM AT HER SON AND HIS WIFE, HER GRANDDAUGHTER AND GRANDSON, ALONG WITH AN UNRELATED FEMALE JUVENILE, AFTER A DOMESTIC VERBAL CONFRONTATION ESCALATED INTO A DANGEROUS SITUATION.

An elderly Lawrence County woman was arrested last week after a domestic dispute with her family got out of hand  dangerously  when she began waving a loaded gun at her close kin and others.
According to the arrest report citation, on Thursday, April 4, at 1:24 A.M., Lawrence County Sheriff Office deputy Joseph Osborne responded to a residence on Wintergreen Drive in Blaine, KY., in reference to a woman, who was identified as Maxine Marcum, 77, of Blaine, pointing a firearm at multiple individuals inside of the residence.

When deputy Osborne arrived on the scene, he made contact with Maxine Marcum, who stated to deputy Osborne that she wanted her son and his wife to leave her residence. When deputy Osborne spoke with Maxine Marcum’s daughter-in-law, who stated that they had been arguing about her juvenile daughter turning the TV on late at night.

The woman stated to deputy Osborne that Maxine Marcum became angry and pulled a firearm out and began pointing it at them. When deputy Osborne asked Maxine Marcum about this, she stated that she pulled the gun out because she wanted them to leave. She stated to me that she had not been threatened or physically assaulted by anyone in the home, but was simply angry, because they would not leave the residence.

Deputy Osborne spoke with Maxine Marcum’s grandson, as well as her granddaughter, and also an unrelated juvenile female, who all stated to deputy Osborne that she was waving the gun in the living room, while there were multiple people in the living room with her.

Deputy Osborne located the firearm that  Maxine  Marcum had pointed at her family, and he was able to confirm that the gun was loaded.

Maxine Marcum was arrested by deputy Osborne, and she was charged with five (5) counts of:
* WANTON ENDANGERMENT-1ST DEGREE.
Maxine Marcum was transported to and booked at the Big Sandy Regional Center in Paintsville in Johnson County. Maxine Marcum later on the same day posted her bond, and was released from the jail.

This woman is 77 years old and you got a teenager turning on a loud TV in the middle of the night. I would have pulled my gun and told him to f****** leave too!!
Sounds to me like the son and daughter-in-law need to find them a new place to live with their children and leave this woman in peace.

      I totally agree!

The relatives should have just left her house and left her alone. Maybe she didn’t want to be bothered by them. Were the relatives trespassing on her property?

It’s her property. They were technically trespassing. Its her right to tell them to leave. This woman should sue the police for violating her right. The castle doctrine states that she is allowed to use deadly force to defend from *invasion* without the requirement to retreat(unlike the stand your ground law, which I believe was the only thing taken into account here).

I personally know this lady and am very ashamed of the deputy arresting her and the Levisa Laser printing this story! She just lost her husband awhile back and having to put up with these doped up, disrespectful freeloaders was just too much. She has always helped her family and anyone in need. This is ruining her reputation. Anyone stays at my house follows my rules or gets out. Even if I have to chase them out with a gun. So that being said, This woman was well within her rights to use force as she had already told them to leave.

WADE QUEEN, you are beyond belief! A true drama queen. Disrespectful. Rude. Disregarding the truth. Anything to blow the story up. I absolutely hope Mark gets rid of you. You are not a newsperson. You blew this completely out of proportion just as you do many of your “stories”. We want the facts. The truth. No drama.

God bless her – do we need to start a GoFundMe account to help her with her legal bills?
