Lawrence County Food Bank is pleased to announce they are partnering with Unity Baptist Church to conduct a summer feeding program for the youth of Blaine.

This is the fourth annual summer feeding program that the Lawrence County Food Bank has hosted. Although there are many volunteers who make this possible, this year could not have happened without the support of special donations given in the memory of Russell Wells and Robert Kise. We sincerely thank the families for their generosity and support.

This program will be held every Tuesday in June and July at Unity Baptist Church and is open to any school aged child. We encourage parents to drop off at 11:45 and pick up by 1:00. Unity Baptist Church will be running the church van for the children who do not have transportation. The church van is limited to a 15 person capacity, so we encourage those who can to please provide transportation if possible.

Lawrence County Food Bank, founded in 2012, is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization focused on providing quality and nutritional food to families who find themselves struggling to make ends meet. Through local and regional partners, they are able to feed hundreds of families in Lawrence County every single month.  If you wish to become a partner to help them fight hunger in this County, please give by clicking on the link below. If you have questions, please contact Rachael Wheeler directly at (606) 624-5353.

The food service program of the USDA sponsors this program in many states. Why does the article say without donations made by Russell Wells and Bob Kise families this program wouldn’t be available? Looks like someone is wanting credit and recognition for a program the US government provides. This program is available in many areas and is not financially sponsored by any particular individuals as all taxpayers are supporting this program. Thanks President Trump! He is real supporter of this program.

Are you joking? Trump has repeatedly cut the budget for these programs. https://www.summerlearning.org/blog/trump-administration-propose-cuts-to-key-federal-funding-for-summer-programs/
