Program not only trains students, but also works diligently to connect students with jobs after training

HAGER HILL, Ky. – Big Sandy Community and Technical College’s (BSCTC) Workforce Solutions division and the Kentucky Coal Academy (KCA) have announced an innovative and accelerated training program that combines high-tech training for high-wage jobs.

The 12-week program, which will begin August 11 on the Hager Hill campus of BSCTC, will provide students industry leading credentials in lineman, fiber optics, commercial driver’s license (CDL) and OSHA 10 Construction certification. Additionally, participants will earn the credentials in CPR/First Aid, Work Zone and flagging and complete the National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) program.

“This training program equips students with credentials that make them marketable in many different business and industry sectors,” said Kelli Hall, dean of career education and workforce development. “Our program not only trains students, but we also work diligently to connect students with jobs as they complete the program.”

Financial assistance is available to students who qualify.  For more information, contact Danny Tonkin, director of business and industry, at (606) 230-0354 or email wtonkin0001@kctcs.edu.
