Langley, Ky — Lawrence Co. ( 34-5 ) advanced to the 15th Region Championship game with a 6-4 victory over Pikeville ( 17-18 ) Monday afternoon at Floyd Central High School.
CJ Fairchild improved to 6-1 with the win as he went 5 innings on the mound. Tyler Maynard got 2 outs in the sixth before Bryce Blevins came in with the bases loaded in a 6-3 game and induced a ground ball to Jackson Feltner. Maynard came back in the seventh and picked up the save.
Tyler Maynard finished with 2 hits and 3 RBIs, Austin Roe and Bryce Blevins had 1 hit and 1 RBI each, Jackson Feltner had 1 hit and scored 2 runs, Lucas Maynard doubled and Hunter Crum chipped in with 1 hit and 1 run scored.
The Bulldogs will face Johnson Central ( 32-5 ) for the 15th Region Championship tonight at 7:00 after the Golden Eagles dispatched of Belfry 7-2 in the second semifinal contest.

“… A lot of guys stepped up today in big time ways and helped us win a tough ball game against a quality opponent. Tip your hat to them they came ready to play. The Harris kid pitched a good game. He threw well against us early in the year as well. It was a great atmosphere for a high school baseball game and I knew it would be.”
“… With the bases loaded in the sixth me and Coach Blevins talked it over and we went to Bryce against the lefty who is a dangerous hitter and we got out of it. That was a pivotal point in the game.”

“… I left a couple balls up in the strike zone and they hit those for doubles. When I kept the ball down they couldn’t touch me. I just tried to keep locating and let my defense work. I know my offense is going to come through. Roe and Tyler with two out hits was huge for us.”
