BASEBALL DAWGS BEAT DEFENDING 15TH REGION CHAMPION PAINTSVILLE

PAINTSVILLE, KY. —  In a battle of two of the top teams in the 15th Region Lawrence Co. ( 6-0 ) came from behind for a 7-5 victory over Paintsville ( 4-3 ) Thursday at Charlie Adkins Field.

After allowing 2 runs in the first inning CJ Fairchild settled in to get the victory over Paintsville.

CJ Fairchild went five innings to pick up the win and Bryce Blevins went the final two for the save. The two only gave up 5 hits to the Tigers. Fairchild struck out 8 and Blevins 4.

Austin Roe with three hits against defending Region champion Paintsville.

Austin Roe went 3-3 with a double and knocked in 2 runs, Lucas Maynard had 2 hits including a double and scored twice, Hunter Crum, Blevins, and Jacob Fletcher all had two out RBI singles, Fairchild had a hit and scored twice, Jackson Feltner and Tyler Maynard had 1 hit each.

Lawrence Co. will spend this week in Myrtle Beach for Spring Break.

The Dawgs play all Kentucky teams this week beginning with Knox Central today, South Laurel Monday, Clark Co. Tuesday, Owensboro Apollo Wednesday and Louisville Eastern on Thursday.

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… Really proud of our guys, this is a big game for both teams. I thought CJ and Bryce were both good on the mound and the score shouldn’t have been as close as it was.”

“… Hunter Crum, Blevins and Jacob Fletcher all came up with big two out hits. Austin Roe is a machine offensively with three more hits tonight.”

“… Going to be a challenge for us in South Carolina we play all in state teams that we wouldn’t normally play so it should be an exciting week of baseball. Good for our kids to bond as well.”
