1942 — 2018

 

Barbara Ellen Hicks Brooks, 75, of Louisa, KY died April 11, 2018 at her home after an extended illness.

Barbara was born September 29, 1942 in Lincoln County, WV to the late Bill and Chessie Hicks. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Byrd Brooks; two brothers Eddie Hicks of Harts Creek, WV and Willie Hicks of Chesapeake, OH; and a great grandson Spencer Smith of Catlettsburg, KY. 

Barbara is survived by her son William Brooks (Sandy) of Catlettsburg, KY; two daughters, Joyce Castle (David) of Louisa, KY and Jeanie Brooks Smith of Louisa, KY; two granddaughters, Erin Brooks Smith (Phillip) and Brandy Brooks Vernatter (Ryan) of Catlettsburg, KY; three great grandchildren Shelby Smith, Rylee Vernatter, and Ryan Hunter Vernatter of Catlettsburg, KY; two sisters Joann Jones (Tom) of Monroe MI and Helen Darby (Jim) of Louisa, KY and one caregiver Rose Smith. 

Graveside services will be conducted Friday, April 13, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the Buchanan Chapel Church Cemetery.

Young Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Mrs. Brooks.
