EVER BEEN INSIDE YOUR COLON?Colon Cancer Prevention Project and they were able to be there with a large inflatable colon.” The inflatable colon is an excellent educational tool, and attention-getter.

The Lawrence County Annual Health Fair was held on 4-11-17 at the Lawrence Co. Extension Office on 249 Industrial Park Road. The event was a huge success, as the event coordinator Ashley Wilks stated that they saw around 100 people for health screenings such as blood pressure and pulse checks, oxygen measurements and even a colon cancer prevention demonstration by The Colon Cancer Prevention Project.

The Lawrence Co. Health Department along with Three Rivers Medical Center was there to do screenings along with other vendors from 10:00 A.M. to around 2 when things began to slow down.

Ms. Wilks estimated the amount of vendors that participated was around 25. Everyone that came not only received screenings, but also had those 25 vendors giving samples and health information about health care.

“The Lawrence County Health Action Team always looks forward to our annual Health Fair. We thrive on collaborating our efforts to share resources with the community.

Ms. Wilks stated that “the Expo was usually scheduled on a Saturday, however they wanted to work with The Colon Cancer Prevention Project and they were able to be there with a large inflatable colon.”

10. HEALTH EXPO Community Early Childhood Council Rhonda Colvin. I dont think I had her on my vendor list. She shared info about enrolling children in preschool or kindergarten.

“The Lawrence County Health Action Team always looks forward to our annual Health Fair. We thrive on collaborating our efforts to share resources with the community,” Ms. Wilks said.

“We did things a little different this year and may do them different again next year! By listening to what our vendors and participants recommend and prefer, we come up with new ideas. We hope the community enjoyed this event as much as we did. It was beautiful weather and a lot of fun! See you all next year!”
