LCHS Class of 2017

….And they’re off! Lawrence County Seniors graduation was held on Saturday May 12th. The commencement, held at the Lawrence County High School celebrated the completion of their high school careers and the look forward to what they will make of their lives.

The line- up for commencement exercises began with the L.C.H.S. Band with Mr. Scott Smith playing “Pomp and Circumstance”, then a welcome from Dr. Robbie Fletcher, Superintendent. Miss Natalie Grace Rice gave the invocation followed by Principal Christy Moore introducing the guest speaker, Thomas Frazier, M.D.

Top of the Class

Vice-Principal, Stuart Cook introduced the ‘Top of The Class’, including:

Miss Shelby Taylor

Mr. Charles Bowen

Miss Zoe Cordial

Miss Isabella Handley

Mr. Bradley Mattingly

Miss Raegan Crum

Relationships and memories are to be treasured as much as books and computers, and the grads were reminded of that with the theme of the commencement program in memory of William “Blake” Ramey 1999-2016 and Xzaiver T. Witham 1999-2013, two classmates that passed in the last few years.

Dad Mike Frazier, Makenzie Frazier and 'Uncle Tom' Thomas Frazier, M.D.This year was special in many ways, but one that stuck out in my mind was that one of the graduates, Makenzie Frazier was blessed enough to get a message from a very successful man that was also very familiar.

Thomas Frazier, M.D. a 1997 Lawrence County graduate, locally raised and now a widely loved gastroenterologist that also practices right here in Lawrence County.

Dr. Frazier, who is known as “Uncle Tom” to her, was the commencement speaker. He as well as her parents, Mike and Stacy (Cyrus) Frazier have set a high bar for this beautiful young lady.

A farewell address was given by Miss Kailee Jo Ross, Class of 2017 President.

After the diplomas were presented, the benediction was given by Mr. Brayden West.

Congratulations CLASS OF 2017!

“You have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. You can’t get there by bus, only by hard work and risk and by not quite knowing what you’re doing, but what you’ll discover will be wonderful. What you’ll discover it will be yourself.
-Alan Alda
