AEP SEEKS BIDS FOR COAL FOR KENTUCKY POWER AND OTHERS

The coal-fired power plant owned by Appalachian Power is among those slated to receive coal under the AEP contract.ASHLAND, Ky. – American Electric Power is seeking bids for the supply of coal to one or more of its electric generating stations, including Kentucky Power’s Mitchell Plant in West Virginia.

“Coal remains an important part of our communities and our business,” said Kentucky Power President Matt Satterwhite. “In Kentucky, about 80 percent of our electricity is generated using coal. We continue to look for innovative ways to support our coal businesses as we pursue long-term solutions that strengthen our region.”

AEP seeks proposals for the following:

*  Up to 400,000 tons of Central Appalachian coal, FOB Barge, beginning in January 2018 and ending in June 2018

*  Up to 1,700,000 tons of Powder River Basin coal, FOB Rail (joint-line served), beginning in January 2018 and ending in June 2018

*  Up to 250,000 tons of Illinois Basin coal, FOB Barge, beginning in January 2018 and ending in June 2018

AEP is open to alternative pricing structures or other innovative, value-added concepts. Proposals with alternative terms will be accepted. Accepted bids will be at AEP’s discretion.

Proposal packages must be received by AEP no later than 5 p.m., Monday, December 4, 2017. Proposals can be submitted by e-mail to aepfuelsrfp@aep.com, or by mail to Chuck West, Manager, Coal Procurement, American Electric Power Service Corp., One Riverside Plaza, 14th Floor, Columbus, Ohio 43215.
