Leaders from state and region to gather to recognize the success of the program’s first class of recovering addicts who are earning college hours and certifications that will enable them to start work in the addiction treatment field.

LOUISA, KY – Addiction Recovery Care, LLC (ARC) announces the inaugural graduation ceremony for the Peer Support Specialist Academy (Academy), May 17, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at The Forum in the Hal Rogers Center in Hazard, Kentucky.

The Academy is a six to nine month, 500-hour program that includes 240 hours of classroom training and 240 practicum hours that incorporates an addiction treatment internship. Students who have successfully completed the Academy will receive state Peer Support Specialist Certification and additional training and certifications that will allow them to be ready to be employed in the addiction treatment field. The courses they complete may be transferable for college credit toward a college certificate or associate’s degree.

This first graduating class is comprised of sixteen (16) students who have not only completed a minimum of 60 days of drug and alcohol treatment, but also an internship in addition to their coursework. ARC’s CEO Tim Robinson commented, “We are excited about the first Peer Support Specialist Academy graduation. This is a big step forward for the graduates and for our organization. The addiction treatment field needs workers and these will be some of the best and well-trained employees any treatment center could find. Over half of the Academy graduates already have jobs in the field.”
