Addiction Recovery Care Announces Name of Women’s Treatment Facility

In Southwest Virginia, communities have been hit disproportionately hard by the addiction crisis – something that has only worsened amid an alarming rise in fentanyl and synthetic opioids in the drug supply. Fortunately, life-saving, life-changing help and resources are on the horizon. Addiction Recovery Care (ARC), a leading provider of addiction treatment and recovery services in Kentucky, announced it will name its Virginia women’s facility Primrose Recovery Center.

“At a time when Virginians are struggling with addiction more than ever, Primrose Recovery Center will fill a crucial need in Southwest Virginia and help more people break free from the chains of addiction,” said Tim Robinson, CEO & Founder of Addiction Recovery Care.

In December, ARC joined the Dickenson County Industrial Development Authority (IDA) to announce plans to open the first women’s facility in the Southwest Virginia community.  Primrose Recovery Center will be located at the former Ervinton Elementary School in the town of Nora. The name honors Virginia’s heritage and music history – evoking the song “Hemlock and Primroses,” which was made famous by Dickenson County native Ralph Stanley.

The Ervinton property was conveyed to the County from the Dickenson County School Board as surplus property and was subsequently conveyed to the IDA in November, paving the way to expand ARC’s partnership in the community. Since then, developers with Southwest Properties have begun work to prepare the facility to serve clients.

“My development group is proud to work alongside ARC and join in their mission to address the addiction crisis that has taken too many of our loved ones,” said Greg May, Manager of Southwest Properties. “We’re excited about their foresight to bring their comprehensive model of care to a region in desperate need of treatment options and retraining programs that enable people to re-enter the workforce.

ARC currently operates more than 30 programs in 22 Kentucky counties. Their nationally recognized Crisis to Career model combines treatment with job training to prepare clients for life after recovery.

In January 2023, ARC and the Dickenson County IDA announced the development of the Wildwood Recovery Center, ARC’s first facility in Clintwood, Virginia. The 112-bed facility for men will be the first facility that ARC will operate outside of the state of Kentucky. Construction of that facility is underway and scheduled to be completed in early 2024.
