Ada V. Chapman Franklin, 101, passed away on February 20, 2021 at the Signature Rehab and Wellness Center in Carrollton, KY.

She was the daughter of the late Z.W. and Della Fugitt Chapman. She leaves behind 3 children; Pat Supplee (Jon) of Carrollton, KY, James F. Franklin Jr. (Luanne) of Paris, KY, and Mike Franklin (Emma), of Georgetown, KY; 10 grandchildren  and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Fred of 47 years; sisters Wilma Chapman and Marlene Hardin; twin brothers: Willard and Willis Chapman and her eldest daughter Bonita A. Atkins

Ada was a member of the Gallup United Methodist Church of Chapman, KY. She was a member of the Homemakers Club of Lawrence County. She kept her house and yard immaculate. She raised a garden that could have fed the community. She canned vegetables and shared them with family and friends. She and husband Fred raised strawberries which she sold some, made jam and strawberry shortcakes. She like to sew, quilt, crochet, knit and weave baskets. She like to paint pictures and feed the birds. Some things that her family will miss are her Signature Applesauce Cakes and her annual cream candy. She made dozens of pounds every year around Christmas for her family and friends. No one in the family has been able to make cream candy like Ada. She lived a full and important life.

She will be missed by everyone who knew her and loved her.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, March 4, 2021 at 12:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church in Louisa, KY with Pastor Tammy Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Peck Cemetery in Chapman.

Friends may visit the family on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church from 10:00 AM until time of service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Ada’s memory at https://fundraising.stjude.org/site/TR/GiftFunds/GiftFunds?px=6934328&pg=personal&fr_id=39300 or by using her name in your check memo.
