A FAMILY BUSINESS…

FUGITIVE PIKE COUNTY FATHER AND SON WHO ARE CONNECTED TO ORGANIZED CRIME RING IN LAWRENCE COUNTY FINALLY ARRESTED AFTER BEING ON THE RUN SINCE LATE 2017

NOVEMBER 30, 2018 – written by WADE QUEEN

Johnny and Zachary Gibson

A Pike County father and son were arrested Thursday night November 29 in Pike County, after nearly a year of being on the run from authorities in Lawrence County,

According to a report by the Kentucky State Police Post 9 in the Pikeville, troopers arrested 45 year old Johnny Gibson and his 23 year old son Zachary Gibson in the Virgie area of Pike County

Both Gibsons were taken into custody by trooper Mark Branham of the KSP Post-9, after the long search for them in both Lawrence Country and Pike County.

The fugitive family duo Johnny and Zachary Gibson had been hiding and being on the lam after they were both indicted last December 2017 on charges of engaging in an organized crime operation in Lawrence County.

Those charges came from an 18 month long investigation by the Lawrence County Sheriff’s office into a crystal meth trafficking ring involving 17 other people.

According to Lawrence County Chief Deputy Mark Wheeler, Johnny and Zachary Gibson were the last two to be arrested out of the 19 people indicted for the meth selling operation. Deputy Wheeler reported that 13 of the 19 of those indicted have already pleaded guilty.

Both Johnny and Zachary Gibson were taken to the Pike County County Detention in Pikeville.

Even though he had been a fugitive on the run with fugitive father for the past year, Zachary Gibson was given bond and posted it and was released Friday morning.

Meanwhile, his father Johnny Gibson was transferred late Friday afternoon to Big Sandy Regional Detention in Paintsville where he still remained lodged late Friday night, as he was also going to serve a contempt guilty plea jail sentence for a separate criminal charge.
