On Friday May 13, 2022 at 7:30 PM, The Mountain Movers Garden Theatre Group (MoMo) had the last showing of “Steel Magnolias” by Robert Harling in Louisa Kentucky.
Director of MoMO Kim Willard opened the “Steel Magnolias” finale show welcoming the crowd and preparing us to leave our worries behind for a laugh and cry at this showing. Willard was recognizing groups and one lady told Willard that they all went to church together, so they were considered the “Church Ladies Group” (chuckles)
“Steel Magnolias” is a hilarious and touching show. This play for six
women is set in a beauty parlor in Louisiana. Through four scenes spanning
three years the staff and customers engage in small-town gossip but we see a
deep strength and purposefulness emerge when Shelby – a diabetic – dies following a kidney transplant operation.
The cast of Steel Magnolias was extraordinarily talented and very friendly. After the show was over, the cast called for Director Kim Willard to come up to the stage, then Willard accepted gifts and flowers from the cast.
