LAWRENCE CO. SOFTBALL BEATS PIKEVILLE IN EXTRA INNING THRILLER

Louisa, Ky. — Lawrence Co. softball improved to 5-1 on the year with a 5-3 victory over Shelby Valley on a chilly Friday night at home.

Dani Crum hit a solo homer and finished with two hits and scored two runs, Gracie Preece doubled twice, Shelby Blevins doubled and drove in a run, Kensley Feltner doubled, Allie Triplett singled and drove in a run, Abby Nelson had one RBI, Bree Jones singled and scored a run, Abby Maynard and Emalyn Kitts scored a run each.

Taylor Blevins went the distance in the circle, allowed zero earned runs and struck out twelve Wildcats to get the victory.

Lawrence Co. 7 Pikeville 4 ( Thursday )

The Dawgs scored five runs in the top of the ninth inning to beat Pikeville on the road.

Taylor Blevins went all nine innings to get the win, only allowed two earned runs and struck out 10 Panthers.

 

Shelby Blevins doubled twice and drove in four runs, Gracie Preece had three hits including two doubles and scored once, Kensley Feltner had two hits including a double and scored twice, Dani Crum singled, drove in a run and scored once, Abby Maynard doubled, Bree Jones singled and scored a run, Jaylee Maxie and Taylor Blevins singled, Allie Triplett and Abby Nelson scored a run.

 

Lawrence Co. will return to action with a trip to Hamlin to face Lincoln Co. ( W. VA. ) on Wednesday and then open up 58th District action with a trip to Betsy Layne on Thursday before leaving for Myrtle Beach on Saturday.

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… Against Pikeville it was a really good game with a playoff type atmosphere. Nine innings of real pressure that our girls stood up and answered the call. These games are the ones that get you ready.”

“… Against Shelby Valley it was a cold night at the ball park. We got out early and let off the gas. We need to be better at keeping the pressure on teams. We are still working hard to get where we want to be. Looking forward to our first district game this week.”
