HOGANS TO BE RE-ARRAIGNED NEXT WEEK IN FEDERAL COURT FOR SENTENCING DATE

MARCH 24, 2022 – written by WADE QUEEN
MICHAEL HOGAN AND HIS WIFE,  JOY HOGAN.

The soon to be ex-Lawrence County Attorney and his wife, who were originally indicted for federal fraud charges in 2021, pleaded guilty on Tuesday, March 22.

According to federal court documents, Michael Hogan and Joy Hogan motioned for re-arraignment, instead of going to their trial, which was scheduled to begin on Monday, April 4, In Lexington, KY.

Michael Hogan and his wife, who was his legal secretary at both his county attorney office and private practice, were indicted on June 3, 2021, by a federal grand jury in Lexington on charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, wire fraud, and federal program theft.

Joy and Michael were each charged with one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Michael Hogan was further charged with nine counts of wire fraud and five counts of federal program theft.

The indictment alleges that Michael paid Joy more than $365,000 from a second tax account from the Lawrence County Attorney’s Office between March 8, 2013, and April 30, 2020.

“Because the Defendants’ motions demonstrate their intent to plead guilty rather than proceed to trial, the Court will continue the trial date as to both Defendants and schedule these matters for re-arraignment,” said the latest federal court document.

Both Michael and Joy Hogan’s re-arraignment request were granted by a federal judge, and it will happen on Monday, March 28. It is then that after their guilty plea in federal court, the judge will set a later court date for Mike and Joy Hogan’s scheduled sentencings.

You should probably pray for the people they screwed over also.

        No kidding!!!

Karma coming back around. You can only look down your nose at people and do things that aren’t right for so long until it catches up. No way they could have thought what they were doing was right or legal.

Couldn’t happen to a better guy

      No. They are thieves.

We reap what we sow. I hope they don’t have children. They are ones who would suffer the most.

Karma has nothing to do with what happens when people make mistakes. Ambition got the best of a good man, and the good woman of the good man. He is an excellent lawyer.

They are guilty of the greatest of sins (the love of money is the root of all evil) he is a member of the POG (party of greed) and his actions were proves where his heart is. All the money should be returned with significant interest and both barred from having any access to public operations or finances.

Praying for both..They were always kind and good to me.

I choose Prayer and Kindness for Mike and Joy and everyday in my life!

They are real people with real feelings and are from our small town. I wish everyone would choose to love instead of judge. Everyone has done something wrong in their life and God forgives, so why don’t we do the same?
I want them to know that people in Louisa do love them and will be there for them.

If it was up to me I would have him work as a public defender to pay off his debt waste of money to put him in jail. His wife needs to take care of the kids.

      Agree

It’s so easy to cast stones rather than prayers because I’m sure no one reading or commenting ever made any mistakes. Micheal and Joy are good people and mistakes were made. Just think of everyone saying Karma their children will read, let’s write something about all of our mistakes and indiscretions and let your children read.

  12. Sheila Mann says:

It’s interesting to see how many people say that the Hogans “made mistakes”. A mistake is an occurence which happens once. These people stole from their community, from the county, and from the state deliberately, over a number of months. Stealing $375,000 from child support and delinquent taxes isn’t something they did without thought and planning, Disgraceful.

    • Michael Isaac says:

You explained it extremely well Ms. Mann!!

  13. Citizen says:

We were made to pay child support over and over after it was paid . They said they would never receive payments . Then he took my husband to court and humiliated him in front of everyone and we were never late in payments . But at that time you can’t argue with them . Also just for having them handle our child support payments they would charge $50 a year and take it out at Christmas time . That’s wrong as well . Mike deserves to pay for what he did . As a family we were done wrong and made to be publicly humiliated while he laughed in the courtroom . There is more but that is enough for now .

So just wondering ,if he was someone’s lawyer and changed their will in 2016 could it be voided since they had already been doing fraud thing ? Just curious
