Lawrence Co. Head Coach Kenny Horn

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… This my 16th year as the Bulldog Head Coach and I’m just as excited now as I was then. Hopefully the moment this year won’t be too big. I think in the region semis against Pikeville we tighten up a little and left a ball over the plate and Emily Ford made us pay. We were down 6-0 early but like we had all year long we fought back. The team never quit one time. I just hope the experience of it all and another year of maturity. We have almost everyone back but we are still young. Your never really mature until you get a few years under your belt.”
“… We have some good leadership even though we don’t have any seniors that have the right mindset about them. Kensley Feltner you really don’t have to say much else about her, Allie Triplett is cut from the same cloth, just hard nosed and understand the game and they practice just like they play. Sam Sparks always says if your best players are your hardest workers you’re gonna be successful. Ella Fitzpatrick is also a captain and she is kinda the mama bear of the bunch it’s a good mix of leadership.”
“… I cashed in all my favors that the other teams owed us and we start out with a bunch of home games before we go to the beach and it also made our schedule tougher. Once we come back from the beach we host the Class 2A Section tournament as well. In all my years this is the most home games that we have played. It’s always good to play at home in front of our fans and community and we appreciate all of the support. We need the home games because our community is going through a lot right now and they need softball, baseball, tennis along with track and field.”
“ …Our schedule is tough as always and this year we get to host the 2A, unfortunately Kentucky can’t get with the program and class spring sports. This gives us a chance to play against schools our size. The girls are really excited about it and we have a legit shot to win our section.”
“… Myrtle Beach is always a huge week for us and we haven’t been in a couple years because of COVID. Not just because we get to play games but for the parents as well because they get to hang out together. It is a great bonding trip for our kids. The younger ones get to hang out with the older ones just a great trip overall. We will miss going to church on Sunday morning this year because we have to play on Sunday but they will get plenty of church throughout the week. Funny story you know it’s a long bus ride down and only one year I had to tap out and Kensley was an 8th grader and as you know a very talkative kid and we got into North Carolina and I had to have one of the other coaches switch me because she had chewed my ear off. Fun memory to have, that trip is good for the coaching staff the parents and the kids and it’s good for Lawrence Co. we won’t lay down for anyone we are going to win. When people see LC down there whether it’s baseball or softball you better be ready to play. Always look forward to Mama Fletchers chocolate volcanoes boy I’ve missed those. We already told her at the auction we wanted them. If we come back from the beach and we are .500 I will be excited with the schedule that we have put together.”
“… Remember the name Jayla Maxie, If every kid in our school system was like her we would have no issues. She is a great kid and when she first started she wasn’t very good but she is the only one that I have ever had that hasn’t missed a practice or a workout. She will play a role on this team. She won’t complain or pout and will do whatever we ask. I love that kid.”
“… Want to thank everyone for coming out to our spaghetti dinner and auction it was a great day and maybe our best one yet. That place was packed. Can’t thank our community enough for love and support.”
