Worthington, Ky. — Bulldog Senior Cody Maynard surpassed the 2,000 point threshold as Lawrence Co. ( 9-0 ) beat Raceland 65-50 last week on the road.

Maynard led the way with 22 points, Trenton Adkins scored 15 points, Tyler Johnson tallied 10 points, Kaden Gillispie 7 points, Andrew Bloomfield 6 points and Will Lafferty 4 points.

Lawrence Co. hit 4 three pointers and went 5 of 9 from the foul line.

Raceland ( 3-6 ) was led by Andrew Floyd with 18 points, Jacob Guaze had 13 points, Landyn Newman had 10 points, Isaiah Perkins 3 points, Kyle Broughton, Connor Thacker and Will Farley had 2 points each.

The Rams hit 4 three pointers and went 8 of 12 from the foul line.

LCHS 19 21 11 14 = 65
RHS 15 13 10 12 = 50

The Dawgs are off to the best start in school history at 9-0 and the next couple of weeks will be quite a challenge beginning this week in South Carolina, hosting Belfry in the first round of the Class 2A tournament, road trips at Huntington St. Joe and Boyd Co. as well.

The Dawgs will play in the Carolina invitational in Charleston South Carolina beginning on Tuesday versus Calvary Day out of Winston-Salem, North Carolina at 4:30. Each team is guaranteed three games.

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… It was a great team effort going to Raceland and getting a win. That is a tough place to play and we are certainly proud of our guys for going in and pulling out a win. Defensively we did a pretty good job limiting their shooters. We preached to our kids the importance of the rebounding battle and felt our kids did a good job responding to that challenge.”
