2020 Rogers Scholar Steven Lycans of Lawrence County delivers groceries for neighbors

2020 Rogers Scholar and Lawrence County High School student Steven (SJ) Lycans delivers groceries for neighbors in his community, so they do not have to go out to the store for needed items during the COVID-19 pandemic. “From grocery shopping to collecting medicine and medical supplies, I made myself available for whatever they needed,” Lycans said. “I felt pride in knowing I was helping my community in a unique way and was able to build relationships with people I had never really known before.” Each graduate of The Center for Rural Development’s Rogers Scholars program is required to complete a community service project.
