WOMAN AND HER MOTHER DIE IN MONDAY COLLISION; MAN IS KILLED IN TUESDAY MOTORCYCLE CRASH

It was a bad day on the roadways in Pike County, Kentucky for the past couple of days, as the Kentucky State Police are investigating the causes of two different vehicle accidents that led to the deaths of three individual adults.

 

According to the first of two separate press release statements from the Kentucky State Police Post 9, Pikeville,Ky., they reported receiving a call on Monday, September 27, 2021, at 7:19 P.M. reporting a single vehicle collision had occurred on KY Route 195 in the Marrowbone community area of Pike County. A KSP trooper from Post 9 responded and began the investigation of the wreck scene.

 

The initial investigation indicated Joshua Ryan Holbrooks, 24, Elkhorn City, was operating a 2002 Yamaha motorcycle on KY Route 195 when Holbrooks’ motorcycle exited the roadway and struck a tree. Joshua Holbrooks was pronounced deceased on scene by the Pike County Coroner’s Office.

 

Trooper Colt Stumbo is investigating the collision, and he was assisted on scene by Kentucky State Police Post 9 personnel and Lifeguard Ambulance Service.

According to the second press release statement from the Kentucky State Police Post 9, Pikeville, Ky., they received a 911 call regarding a two-vehicle fatal collision in Pike County at approximately 8:15 P.M. on September 28, 2021. The collision occurred on the State Highway 194 exit from US 119 in the Meta community area of Pike County.

 

Upon the arrival of KSP Post 9 troopers,and through an investigation, troopers discovered a female driver, later identified as Vergena Fields, 31, of Phelps, Ky., was operating a 2019 Jeep Renegade onto US 119 from State Highway 194 Exit when her vehicle collided with the rear of a 2011 Freightliner commercial vehicle being operated by Talal Bilal, 56, of Florida.

 

Vergena Fields and her mother, identified as Dottie Fields, 60, were both pronounced deceased on scene by the Pike County Coroner’s Office. The investigation is ongoing by KSP Post 9 Accident Reconstructionist, Trooper Josh Scott.

 

Trooper Scott was assisted on scene by Kentucky State Police Post 9 personnel, Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement officers, Kimper Volunteer Fire Department, Coal Run Volunteer Fire Department and Lifeguard Ambulance Service.
