Lawrence Co. BOE Chairman Heath Preston Public Announcement

“Very proud of our LC Board of Education tonight”.

1st. We actually lowered your tax rate on real and personal property. We have been the lowest in the 15th region and lower than the majority of the state! But now the rate is lower!

2nd. We approved Covid Leave policy for ALL STAFF! Everyone is treated equally and fairly. And it is retroactive to July of 2021. We wanted to take care of our people and WE DID!

3rd. This is not from the board or its action, but I want to inform everyone that has been asking and posting concerns about Covid issues what our numbers are, and how to find them. Dr. Fletcher is publishing our numbers, being transparent and timely so all can see.

1.62% Percentage Isolated District Wide

We believe we are safer at school than anywhere else in the county. We are wearing masks, I know its controversial but we are wearing them. We continue to spare no expense in cleaning, air quality, and safety.

We continue to listen and improve on a daily basis.

There is no easy answer to any of your, mine, and everyone’s concerns, but we will continue to do what is best for our children and staff to the best of our ability. I can honestly say your safety and your children’s safety have NEVER been a higher priority, and no financial loss or gain will ever matter when it comes to Safety. I am proud of our board. I am proud of our staff. I am proud to be ALL IN LC!
