Dr. Rob Fletcher
Here is an overview of the Virtual Academy included in the application…

“…Recently, Governor Beshear rescinded almost all COVID-19 restrictions for the state of Kentucky.   As a result, the Kentucky Department of Education no longer requires students to wear masks, observe social distancing, etc. in school settings. While the staff of Lawrence County Schools will continue our heightened efforts for cleaning and sanitation, we will be returning to a more “normal” setting in August.

Even though we want to see all students back in the classroom in the fall, we do understand that the virtual setting may be the best option for some students.  With this in mind, we will be offering a virtual academy for the upcoming school year.  The 2021-2022 Virtual Academy for Grades 6-12 will be very similar to the “Option 3” that we offered last year, but the Kentucky Department of Education has more requirements for Grades K-5.
This APPLICATION/CONTRACT provides a more detailed description of the expectations for Lawrence County Virtual Academy (LCVA).  The LCVA is divided into two divisions: K-5 and 6-12.  Grades K-5 will have a cap-size of 30 students.  Grades 6-12 will have 50 students total (20 in Grades 6-8 and 30 in Grades 9-12).  Applications will be evaluated based on criteria that include health accommodations, success in previous settings, transfer from home school, time of application, and others.
Please review this application/contract.  It will give you a better understanding of what is required for the Lawrence County Virtual Academy for both age groups.  If you are interested in enrolling your child, please read the application completely, and complete the application by clicking the “submit” button at the end…”
Finally, the first day of school for students is August 11th.
