Microsurfacing projects set for KY 292, 1714
MARTIN COUNTY (May 6, 2020) – Highway District 12 Chief District Engineer Mary Westfall-Holbrook today announced that the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has approved two microsurfacing projects and three asphalt patching projects in Martin County. The work is scheduled for completion by November 30, 2021, barring any unforeseen circumstances. Last year’s schedule was interrupted by complications resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The following list is not necessarily the order in which the work will be done. The contractor will determine the start dates for each project, all of which are weather dependent, as well as work hours and number of working days each week. Each project will require lane closures, so motorists should watch for signs and prepare to reduce their speed limit throughout the work zones.
KY 292 – from the Pike County line to the junction of KY 1714 (mile points 0.0 – 12.2, a distance of 12.2 miles), microsurfacing. NOTE: Microsurfacing is the application of a polymer surface over the asphalt to extend the life of the pavement.
KY 1714 – from Little Peter Cave Road to the junction of KY 1714 (mile points 8.172 – 10.762), microsurfacing.
KY 1439 – from the Pike County line at Meathouse to the intersection with KY 2032 at Wolfe Creek (mile points 0.0 – 10.733), asphalt pavement patching.
KY 1714 – from the beginning of state maintenance at the intersection of Pigeon Roost Creek and Caney Fork to the intersection with KY 2032 (mile points 0.0 – 5.150), asphalt pavement patching.
KY 1884 – Milo Road, from KY 40 to KY 3 (mile points 0.0 – 5.161), asphalt pavement patching.
