“… I want to thank all my past and present coaches including Autumn Blevins, Tracy Lockwood, James Shannon, Cody Osborne, Kayla Vanhoose, April York, Eric Bays and the many youth league coaches I’ve had for all of their encouragement and support.”

“… Mountain Thunder Volleyball is where I started and where my love for the game began. They are a huge part of why I am now signing to play at the collegiate level with Alice Lloyd College. I am very excited fort the next chapter in my volleyball career and thankful that Coach Hall is giving me the opportunity to play for Alice Lloyd. Aside from volleyball, I am also looking forward to continuing my education at Alice Lloyd.”

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… We are thrilled to see Abby take her skills to the next level. Abby is disciplined, passionate, and inquisitive. Her love for volleyball is evident on and off the court. She always wants to learn and perfect her skills. With Covid and fluctuations in roles this past season, Abby has overcome obstacles and grown as a player, making her a better more well-rounded athlete. It will be exciting to watch her at the collegiate level!”

Congratulations Abby on your chose of Alice Loyd for your next step in life. The first time I heard of the school was 1953 when I watched “This is your life” which featured Miss Loyd with Ralph Edwards. I was an eight Grader at LHS at the time. In 1963 I was apart of the Audit Team for “Settle, Sugg and Shouse” when we went to the college for the audit. We stayed in the boy’s dorm and ate with the students. Coates and ties were required for all males and nice dresses were required for females. We had Pinto beans, fried potatoes. corn bread and milk, I was in seventh Heaven, took seconds and noticed every one had folded there napkins and was waiting for me to finish eating. No one could leave the table until all had finished, I was embraced. The school at that time had only two years and rented a house in Lexington for students who wanted to finish at UK. In the eighties I read the story of the building of the Engineering building, quite a feat. Enough history for the moment, enjoy your time there and remember Miss Loyd and her desire to help the people of the hills.

Keep your head held high and your dreams will come true. May God truly bless you with your decision to go to ALC.
