Turnovers doom Lady Dawgs in home loss to Belfry

Louisa, Ky. — Too many turnovers doomed Lawrence Co. ( 9-7 ) in a 57-43 loss to Belfry ( 11-5 ) Saturday afternoon in Girls basketball action at the Dawg House.

#1 Kensley Feltner and #12 Sophie Adkins have both been huge for the Dawgs this season.

The Bulldogs were led by Kensley Feltner with 28 points, Ellie Webb tallied 10 points and Sophie Adkins scored 5 points to round out the scoring.

Senior Ellie Webb has picked up her scoring after Brooke Neal went down with a season ending injury.

Lawrence Co. hit 6 three pointers and went 5 of 13 from the charity stripe.

Belfry was led by Kyra Thornsbury with 21 points and Cushi Fletcher 16 points.

The Pirates hit 4 three pointers and went 11 of 18 from the charity stripe.

BHS 13 15 14 15 = 57
LCHS 7 15 12 9 = 43

Lawrence Co. will return to action Saturday evening versus Betsy Layne ( 6-8 ) at 6:00.

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… We fell behind early in this one and never could get ourselves out of it. Belfry is a hard pressing team and we struggled with their pressure. We scheduled the best in the region to get us ready for tournament time. We have another tough week of games. So we will get back in the gym and work to get better.”

    We don’t play team basketball and get other players involved. It’s a one person show most games. Hard to watch.
