Attention Lawrence County Residents! Update on the County Clerk Closure from Judge Carter…
Due to an employee testing positive at the Lawrence County Clerk’s Office, the Clerk’s office will be closed and remain closed per health department guidelines until Tuesday (2/9/21). During the time the office and surrounding areas will be cleaned and sanitized.
Clerk Çhris Jobe told The Lazer this morning (Friday, Feb 5) that his office will be closed until Tuesday which would be a week lost since the office has been essentially closed since this past Tuesday.
“I appreciate everyone’s cooperation while we go through this situation,” Jobe said. Noone will be charged a late fee or anything that is caused by this.”
“We’re going by state and federal guidelines and will be eligible to open as soon as we get the results back and the 7 days is up.” Jobe said. For those workers tested and do not test positive the first couple of days will be used to ‘catch up’ and the office will work up to full (Covid)n speed as soon as possible, Jobe said.
In abundance of caution, the County Clerk’s employees will be tested. Chris Jobe is hopeful that the office can re-open Wednesday, (2/10/21). We will be working with the County Clerk to keep everyone posted on the situation.
As always please be safe, wash hands often, wear a mask if possible and practice social distancing.
