The Lawrence County Health Department is losing a long time favorite nurse to retirement.  Shirely Delong worked her last day on Friday from “the best job that a nurse could have”.

Shirley stated in her Facebook post that she was hired when there was a TB issue and now she is leaving during the Covid crisis with so many concerns in between.  She went on to say that “I have worked with some of the most kind hearted nurses who deal with the public in an awe inspiring way and have had the best leadership from the beginning and the guidance continued throughout the years.”

(Note: I know from my own personal experience that Shirley was by far one of the best nurses I have ever known.  She always took my calls and answered my questions any time I had them.  Those will be some big shoes to fill!)
