JANUARY 28, 2021 – written by WADE QUEEN

A GANG OF FOUR YOUNG THUGS WANNABEES: COREY SCOTT LESTER, DOUGLAS RYAN HATFIELD, KATIE MAHON,AND NATHANIEL CHASE HAMILTON, ALL OF WHOM FACE CHARGES AFTER THEY VIOLENTLY ATTACKED A COUPLE AT A GAS STATION RETAIL STORE DURING THE EARLY WEEKEND MORNING HOURS IN MARTIN COUNTY.

A group of four people, consisting of three individuals from Pike County, Kentucky, and one from Mingo County,West Virginia, have been arrested in connection with an attack in Martin County over this past weekend.

Accordimg to the Martin County Sheriff Department, they were called to the Zip Zone service station at Lovely sometime after 3 A.M. Saturday morning, January 23, after three men entered the business store and beat up another man.

A woman who was with the victim reportedly left the store, but she was then assaulted by another woman in the parking lot.

Martin County deputies reviewed surveillance video from the store and identified the suspects as Corey Scott Lester, 20, Douglas Ryan Hatfield, 18, and Katie Mahon, 21, all of South Williamson Kentucky; and 20-year-old Nathaniel Chase Hamilton, 20, of Delbarton, West Virginia.

Martin County deputies stated that Nathaniel Hamilton brandished a firearm during the incident and shot into the victims car.

Warrants for all four individuals involved in the attack were obtained, and three of them Corey Lester, Douglas Hatfield, and Katie Mahon were arrested on Tuesday, January 26, by Martin County deputy David Adams. All four have been charged with Second-Degree Assault, which is a felony punishable by 5 to 10 years in prison. Corey Lester and Douglas Hatfield were also charged with First-Degree Mischief and First-Degree Disorderly Conduct, while Katie Mahon was charged with the First-Degree Disordely Conduct charge. Nathaniel Hamilton was charged with the three same offenses as Lester and Hatfield.

Corey Lester, Douglas Hatfield, and Katie Mahon were all transported to and lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville.

Nathaniel Hamilton was seperately arrested also on Tuesday, when he appeared in a Mingo County, West Virginia courtroom to answer charges in an unrelated case in which he is accused of assaulting his mother. Nathaniel Hamilton is currently being held at the Southwest Regional Jail in Holden, West Virginia; in Logan County.

If the couple would have been ARMED this could have went the other way, and just think of what Biden/Harris is going to try to do to our 2nd amendment rights.

I agree! If those thugs ran across me in that same situation, they would have been dead now. I doubt slow mind can do anything about our 2nd amendment rights, even though I’m sure he will try. We still have the SCOTUS, and 3 new justices appointed by the greatest President in the history of our nation. Our constitutional rights can’t be removed by executive action, and that’s all Slow Joe knows! Nonetheless he will hurt the economy, and already has.

I bet you said the same thing when Obama was President…. Dude, Dems own more guns then Republicans do…. get a life…

        No, they don’t.

And the word is than, not then.

Dims own more guns than Republicans? Yeah right. Dims seem to be more concentrated in large liberal cities where most guns belong to black thugs. Those outside of cities are much more likely to be Republican and to own guns for hunting as well as for protection. If there were to be a Civil War, the Dims would be wiped out.

I don’t agree with what they did, but calling them wannabes probably leaves you open to a slander suit if they’re not convicted

    • Charles says:

I don’t know where you get you’re legal information, but you are wrong! To the best of my knowledge KY has no such thing as a slander suit? If it does it doesn’t apply here. And who called them wannabes?

First off, you should google the laws before saying such things. Those kids are still human and I’m sure all of y’all are saints, right? Not!! Grow up. Maybe a couple of those out of 4 was in the wrong place at the wrong time. And how the hell are you going to say such things, IF they haven’t been convicted yet?
Kentucky law allows a person to bring a lawsuit against the spreaders of lies about you if they have done so intentionally or with reckless disregard for the truth. To be actionable, the defamation must have caused a provable economic harm or damages as a result of the lie being told to others.Feb 26, 2011

I’ll keep this in mind and let them use it if needed. This is from the story I just copy and paste.

Well for the ones that don’t know these 4 was robbed by the 2 who went into the gas station to hide, and all 4 did not fight only 2 also the only reason one pulled a gun and shot up a empty car was to make a statement about robbing them. The way I see it the two who wanna play victim should have there sorry asses behind bars as well. Don’t steal from people and expect nothing to be done

The two victims didn’t rob nobody! I know at least one of them didn’t and as far as you saying they should have their sorry asses locked up. Maybe you should be locked up for upholding the four that did this. It’s a shame that this happened and if I was any of those four I’d be holding my head down in shame to think it took 3 of them to fight one young man and 4 of them to jump the young lady outside. Really??? It took that many! Wow! They’re bad asses lol. I hope all four rot in jail and as for you. Sounds like you’re not to bright at all and your ass won’t be far behind them! So if you don’t really know what you’re talking about then shut the fuck up you sorry ass piece of shit!

These 4 need locked up and never see daylight again!!!! They are the reason I have a gun in my car!

Well Lazer, I see you are up to your same old tricks.

    • Charles says:

Lazer, I know you own the newspaper and all that. You at your own wish offer an open forum, which would imply you wish comments from your loyal readers? However you wait 20 hours to 2 or 3 days to post comments. With this you eliminate the ability of anyone to have a conversation, a debate, state logical or illogical comments. I know you need time to evaluate said comments too make sure their not out of line, as some of my own have been in the past (I now do try to moderate myself). What I would ask of you is screen then post or not, that is your choice. No one can agree or disagree about anything here the way it is. The way you are doing it, perhaps doing away with forum would be the very best choice? I know of course that’s your choice. I do enjoy it, but I like many could live without it. I ask you do it right if you’re going to do it, don’t be Twitter! Thank you.

I’m a leftist. Registered Dem. I legally own two guns myself and I don’t flinch when firing. You only think that the GOP is the party of guns because you want to believe it. However that isn’t the case. Everyone in the u.s. has the right. Liberals might be throwing their rights away, but us mountain born leftist love to shoot. Lots of people in these hills with different ideas and backgrounds. It ain’t all republicans.
