MOLLETTE WAS DISQUALIFIED TO HAVE GUNS IN HIS POSSESSION BY BEING A CONVICTED FELON FOR PREVIOUSLY RUNNING A MARIJUANA DEALING OPERATION

JANUARY 27, 2021 – written by WADE QUEEN

MAJOR MARTIN COUNTY, KY. TROUBLEMAKER MARDY MOLLETT JR.

A Martin County man accused of a brutal attack in the earlier part of last year will now also face federal charges related to that case.

Mardy Mollett Jr., 51, of Tomahawk, Ky., was arrested on April 24, 2020, after a neighbor reported the attack.

Mardy Mollett Jr. is accused of breaking into a woman’s home on Rockcastle Road in Tomahawk on March 13, 2020, where he began striking her in the head and face with a gun, knocking her to the ground, then continuing to beat her, including trying to strangle her, and repeatedly hitting the victim’s head and face and kicking her chest and ribs..

The Martin County Sheriff Department stated that after the victim was able to escape, they accused Mardy Mollett Jr. of shooting up the woman’s home and shooting the woman’s dog.

Police officers said a neighbor who had called 911 about the attack confronted Mardy Mollett Jr., along with a third person, who threw a chair at Mardy Mollett Jr. to get him off the victim. That is when Mardy Mollett Jr. reportedly held both of them at gunpoint and threatened to kill them, before he left.

Mardy Mollett Jr., was charged in the attack case with first-degree assault, first-degree criminal mischief, two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, and one count of animal cruelty.

But now, federal authorities want Mardy Mollett Jr. to stand trial on weapons charges, due to him being a convicted felon.

Mardy Mollett Jr. was indicted by a federal grand jury in U.S. District Court in Pikeville, Ky. in December 2020 on two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and two counts of possession of a firearm by a drug user. Each of those charges could add 10 years to any sentence he receives in state court, if he is convicted.

Mardy Mollett Jr. was convicted previously several years ago on felony charges of cultivating more than five marijuana plants and possessing more than five pounds of marijuana.

Mardy Mollett Jr., who has been out on bond since he was apprehended in West Virginia in 2020 and was brought back to Kentucky to answer on the state charges in the attack case, was arrested on the federal indictments at his home early Monday afternoon, January 25, by U.S. Marshals-Kentucky, where they then transported Mardy Mollett Jr. to and lodged him in the Pike County Detention Center in Pikeville, Ky.

Mardy Mollett Jr. is scheduled to have his first appearance before a federal judge in U.S. District Court in Pikeville on an unspecified day in February.

The MCSD must have forgotten to charge him with the two more serious crimes of 1st degree burglary, as well as unlawful imprisonment 1st degree. I do however agree with Jim, poor dog.

Hello … my name is Pamela Blevins and I’m the woman that was attacked by her ex husband Mardy Mollett jr on March 13, 2020 .
You need to have all the correct facts when you run a story. So many false statements in your so called story.

If the story is wrong, why don’t you tell us the facts?

Pamela, I read this story on Mountian Top Media, in Pikeville, their story is for the most part the same as the Lazer’s? Why would both news stations get it wrong? They did add he was charged with cruelty to animals. I would first wonder why you would challenge the story, it’s as if you are taking his side?
