State Rep. Kathy Hinkle says Lawrence Co. is receiving nearly $1 million from the state for local roads

Frankfort – State Rep. Kathy Hinkle said Gov. Andy Beshear’s announcement this morning that Lawrence County would be getting $742,490 to repair 15 local roads “will make a significant difference for our community and give us the improved infrastructure we need and deserve.  This will mean so much for those who drive these roads every day.”

Today’s announcement is on top of $250,650 that Lawrence County received earlier this summer from the Transportation Cabinet to repair three other roads.

“Representative Hinkle has worked closely with Governor Beshear, Transportation Cabinet officials and local county leaders to make sure Lawrence County gets its fair share from the state to improve its local roads,” said Rocky Adkins, current senior advisor for Gov. Beshear and former House Democratic Floor Leader. “Our goal is to get these roads repaired as soon as possible.”

Rep. Hinkle added that “I was proud to work with County Judge Executive Phillip Carter, the fiscal court, Governor Beshear and Transportation Cabinet officials to make this money available.  These projects will make these roads much safer, and I’m looking forward to the day when this work is complete.  At the same time, I realize there is still more to be done.”

Most of the repaving projects cover less than a mile, although a handful are one to two-plus miles long and some roads are getting repaired in more than one location.

The roads approved this summer and today include: Silver Fox, Big Cat Fork Road, Yellow Creek Road; Cresley Br Road; Diamond Ridge Road; Bob White Road; Blakenship Br Road; Blankenship Hollow Road; Blaine Creek Road; Clayton Br Road; Nots Creek Road; Bucks Br Road; Greenbriar Road; Deer Lick Road; and See Br Road.

Judge/Executive Phillip Carter made the following statement about the road funds:

“…Lawrence County Judge Executive, Phillip L. Carter and the Lawrence County Fiscal Court wish to express their gratitude and thanks to Governor Andy Beshear, Senior Adviser Rocky Adkins, Bobby Jo Lewis, the Transportation Cabinet, Senator Phillip Wheeler and a special Thank you to our State Representative, Kathy Hinkle for her ongoing work and support in helping Lawrence County receive $742,490.00 in Discretionary Spending for paving roads in Lawrence County.

These funds will help improve the safety and overall driving conditions for the citizens of Lawrence County. As always, Lawrence County strives to work together to improve the quality of life for all of its citizens.”
