SHERIFF DEPARTMENT WAS SERVING SEARCH WARRANT FOR SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY AT THE RESIDENCE; FOUND ALL THREE SUSPECTS PASSED OUT AT DRUG SCENE

LARGE STASH OF CONTRABAND SEIZED IN RAID BY THE MARTIN COUNTY SHERIFF DEPARTMENT EARLY SUNDAY MORNING, OCTOBER 25.
Three Martin County residents were arrested after local law enforcement busted them in connection to a large scale drug trafficking operation involving at least a half dozen different illegal hard narcotics.
According to a press release statement by the Martin County Sheriff Department; Sheriff John H. Kirk and his deputies around 1 A.M. Sunday morning, October 25, they executed a search warrant at a home residence at 190 Francis Court, on Route 292, in the Lovely area near the Martin County-Pike County line, for which they were serving the warrant in response to alleged drug activity at the home.
While executing the search warrant at the residence, three people were identified: Stevie Hackney, 58, passed out on a couch (who was named as the owner of the home), Mary J. Workman, 45, passed out on a bedroom floor, Dewey James, 22, asleep in a camper that was next to the home.
Martin County deputy David Adams recovered envelopes that collectively had $2,591 in cash, $10 in coins, several suboxone, and a red iPhone. A further search of the home also uncovered several zip bags of suboxone, a large bag believed to contain fentanyl, two bags believed to contain meth, a large bag of suspected heroin, and five large bags of marijuana.
In addition to what was recovered in the home, in the camper, Deputy David Adams found both a mason jar and a clear bag containing marijuana, another small clear bag that had a powder-like substance appearing to be fentanyl, a black iPhone, and a Winchester 22LR Model 190 loaded with 14 rounds. Deputies also uncovered several bags of clonazepam, loaded firearm magazines, two firearms, and a pickup truck.
All three suspects were formally arrested and charged at 4:19 A.M. by the Martin County Sheriff Department.
Stevin Hackney was arrested by Sheriff John H. Kirk, and was charged with:

- POSSESSION OF FIREARM BY CONVICTED FELON,
- POSSESSION OF HANDGUN BY CONVICTED FELON,
- TRAFFICKING IN CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, 1ST DEGREE, 1ST OFFENSE – (> OR = 2 GRAMS METHAMPHETAMINE),
- TRAFFICKING IN MARIJUANA ( LESS THAN 8 OZ.) 1ST OFFENSE,
- TRAFFICKING IN CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE 1ST OFFENSE.
Dewey James was arrested by deputy David Adams, and was charged with:
- IMPORTING HEROIN, *IMPORTING CARFENTANIL, FENTANYL, OR FENTANYL DERIVATIVES,
- TRAFFICKING IN CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE 1ST OFFENSE (HEROIN),
- AGGRAVATING TRAFFICKING IN CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE (> OR = 28 GRAMS (FENTANYL)
- TRAFFICKING IN CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, 1ST DEGREE, 1ST OFFENSE – (> OR = 2 GRAMS METHAMPHETAMINE),
- TRAFFICKING IN MARIJUANA ( LESS THAN 8 OZ.) 1ST OFFENSE,
- TRAFFICKING IN CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE 1ST OFFENSE.
Mary Jo Workman was arrested by deputy David Adams, and was charged with:
- IMPORTING HEROIN,
- IMPORTING CARFENTANIL, FENTANYL, OR FENTANYL DERIVATIVES,
- TRAFFICKING IN CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE 1ST OFFENSE (HEROIN),
- AGGRAVATING TRAFFICKING IN CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE (> OR = 28 GRAMS (FENTANYL),
- TRAFFICKING IN CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, 1ST DEGREE, 1ST OFFENSE – (> OR = 2 GRAMS METHAMPHETAMINE),
- TRAFFICKING IN MARIJUANA ( LESS THAN 8 OZ.) 1ST OFFENSE,
- TRAFFICKING IN CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE 1ST OFFENSE.
All three suspects were taken in custody, and were later transported to and lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville at around 11:30 A.M.
