LOUISA COUNCIL VOTES TO SPEND $672,000 ON SEWER PLANT; ADOPTS ‘TRICK OR TREAT ‘ POLICY

City Council met for the regular monthly meeting Tuesday evening with topics of Flex-E Grant and upgrades at the Water Plant on the agenda.

 

 

Here are the results of the meeting:

                                                                          Louisa City Council Regular Meeting

                                                                                 October 12 , 2020 at 7:00 pm

 

  1. Mayor Harold Slone called meeting to order, Prayer led by Mitch Castle and Pledge of Allegiance led by Lisa Schaeffer.

  2. Mayor comments, sewer I &I coming along really well. ” The project is going very well. We are about 32% through the process, Slone said. “We have already noticed a difference in the amount of rainwater going to the plant. Pike Street construction has been completed and waiting on curbs and asphalt. Lock Ave is now under heavy construction. We are just asking the residents to be patient as we work through the process and try to focus on how much better it will be when finished.”

  1. Approved minutes for September 15 and September 22.

  2. Approved second reading of Ordinance 2020-04, “An Ordinance Relating to the Valuation and Taxation of Property Within the City of Louisa.”  Motion made by Gary Robertson and seconded by Ashley Caudill.

  3. Approved Flex-E Grant jointly with Lawrence County Fiscal Court for Community Strategies Program Project.  Grants are subject to approval for $7,500, require a 20% match of total project costs, and are to be completed within a 4-month time frame. Motion made by Ashley Caudill and seconded by Lisa Schaeffer.

  4. Approved upgrades at Water Plant with use of depreciation funds. Raw water pumps need raised up higher estimated $12,000. Computer and technology updates estimated $372,000. Pre-filtering system about 8 years old estimated $80,000. Total amount needed $672,000; depreciation fund has $550,000.  State has approved seeking grant money for balance and Water Board approved. Motion made by Tom Parsons and seconded by Mitch Castle.

  5. Adopted Kentucky Department of Health ‘Trick or Treat’ Guidelines. Motion made by Tom Parsons and seconded by Gary Robertson. See guidelines on Lazer story HERE.

  1. Executive session.

  2. Adjourn meeting was motioned by Gary Robertson and seconded by Tom Parsons and ended at 8:13.
