Back to work for WV Teachers!
“We are dedicated and will do whatever is needed to ensure that our kids, their families, my staff and this community feel safe when school opens to students on September 8,” says Fort Gay Pre-K-8 Principal Sherry Brewer.
Teachers and staff are already enrolling new and returning students, getting classrooms in order and doing what is needed to make the first day of school a success for Fort Gay students.
Temperature checks every morning and afternoon, an isolation room, masks and social distancing will be part of everyday school life for students at Fort Gay Pre-K-8 when school begins on Sept. 8.
” We have ordered outside tents so that we can have outside class as often as possible weather permitting,” says Brewer. She also says that fresh air and visual stimulation are important factors in maintaining a healthy and balanced education experience for the students.
“It’s going to be difficult for the smaller children to understand social distancing and will be hard for staff to enforce but for the health and safety of everyone it has to be top priority,” Brewer said. “Not being able to hug them after not seeing them for so long will be difficult but I’m sure after a month or two the children will understand it’s part of their school life.”
Mrs. Brewer and staff are excited to get this school year up and going and says that with God, support of the community, the best teachers, teachers aids, maintenance crew, secretaries, kitchen staff, health and wellness staff and administration, this year is sure to be a success!
