KCADV’s Andrea Miller met with State Farm Agent Debra Hensley in Lexington, KY to promote KCADV’s economic empowerment services statewide.

Frankfort, KY (August 19, 2020) – State Farm Insurance awarded $15,000 to the Kentucky Coalition Against Domestic Violence to provide economic empowerment services at 15 member programs across the state. State Farm has been a longstanding supporter of KCADV’s anti-poverty work since 2009.

The grant will help KCADV provide service coordination and technical assistance benefiting members programs that serve thousands of survivors annually to provide best practice services such as matched savings accounts and emergency assistance.

“Like a good neighbor, State Farm is proud to be a supporter of KCADV’s efforts to provide domestic violence survivors with services that help them establish safety and stability,” said Judy McConkey, State Farm’s Corporate Responsibility Analyst for Tennessee, Kentucky and Arkansas.

“A barrier for many survivors to leaving an unhealthy relationship is a lack of financial resources. KCADV gives survivors a chance to get access to, and control of, funds that can put them on a path towards economic security and a life free of violence,” said KCADV’s CEO, Angela Yannelli.

KCADV provides a strong voice on behalf of domestic violence and dating violence survivors through a combination of direct services and systems change advocacy. The Coalition administers over $11 million in funds annually to the state’s 15 regional domestic violence programs, serving all 120 Kentucky counties. In FY2019, KCADV programs provided 3,817 survivors and their children with emergency shelter and supportive services. The programs provided nonresidential services to nearly 19,000 survivors and their children.
