LOUISA MAYOR HAROLD SLONE INFORMS COUNCIL LAST NIGHT ON NEW LOUISA EAST LANE IMPROVEMENT

LOUISA, Ky. — Attorney Bud Adams told city council last night that there is little chance the city can add a third liquor store in the city limits which was voted wet several years ago. The problem, according to a well known businessman in the community, is both the city’s two liquor stores are essentially in the same location in the Food City Plaza.

Under their wet agreement, the city is allotted 2 liquor stores based on population only although beer stores are not limited.

Ironically the plaza is owned by local attorney and real estate investor Gene Wilson, who was instrumental in passing the wet vote in the city to begin with.

Also Geoffery Branham was appointed to the ever more important City Utilities Commission to replace Steve Lykins who has moved.

Attorney Eldred ‘Bud’ Adams was practicing social distancing in the middle of the room at last night’s city council meeting. Adams is also wearing a mask.

People are going to drink if they choose! I don’t personally think Louisa needs a third liquor store, and the jobs will be minimal. However I imagine the tax revenue will be fairly substantial? My town of 16,000 has 4 liquor stores. What is Louisa’s population now? I drink, and am not against it at all. I just must wonder if someone who knows someone just wants a liquor license? I hope the Lazer will look into this???
