Contractor removing barriers; final sign installation under way

LAWRENCE COUNTY (August 10, 2020) – KY 2565 at Dead Man’s Curve in Louisa officially opens for traffic this afternoon, Monday, August 10, according to Doug Wright, Paintsville Section Engineer for KYTC Highway District 12.

Vandals removed work zone barriers several times in recent weeks, including this past weekend, which made people think the new intersection was already open. “Not only did this delay the official opening,” Wright said, “it created an unsafe situation for anyone driving through the work zone. Road work may appear to the lay person to be finished when it is not.”

That is why Wright said this official announcement is necessary. “People have been confused several times recently because some people have taken it upon themselves to remove signs and barriers, essentially opening the road illegally.”

Final work finished last week and this morning included setting bridge guardrail, installation of permanent signs, removal of work zone signage and traffic control devices, and general cleanup of the construction area.

The contractor, Mountain Enterprises, removed the curve and created a three-way intersection. The project started on October 8, 2019 and cost $1,037,727.65.

Could of saved a $1,000,000 with a red light. Typical Louisa and Ky smh. What else could be done in Louisa with a $1,000,000? From what I’ve seen a whole, whole lot. Reason wouldn’t be cause all of Louisa’s finest pos love in Meadowbrook would it? Same Ole Louisa smh glad I’m far away from that crap hole. P.S Mark won’t post my comment like he hasn’t several of my others I’ve made. He knows I speak truth. Typical Democrat or very weak Republican and fake news. Can you get your nose up in any farther Mark?

You do realize it’s called dead mans curve right? Yes the richer folks do live in Meadowbrook which means expensive houses and expensive taxes. So why shouldn’t they get something in return. The roads in that area are also in terrible shape. I do know that when my son travels dead mans curve now I he will be safer with this improvement. So it’s worth peace of mind for me. I’m very glad you don’t live in Louisa because you sound like a miserable prick. Thinking about you while I’m smh.

      Jerry,
So much about you comment has bothered me. First of all, if you hate Louisa so much then why are you reading our little online paper? Why do you even care about us? Our town is doing just fine without you.
Second, the money for this road construction did not come out of Louisa money but it came from state money. It couldn’t have been used to do anything else for Louisa.
I have lived here my whole life and always choose to think positively about our small town community. If you only have negative to say, then you need to find another small town to pick on.
Finally, your grammar and language are horrible. I could barely understand your point because of your errors.
I am proud of Louisa and our people and our community.
And, if Mark isn’t publishing your comments, I totally understand why!

Actually Jerry, Mark isn’t that bad, he is about the only one that posts my comments. However I am known to get out of hand. Far worse than what you posted in fact; I had to moderate myself…to a degree. 🙂 I do kind of agree with the part about the money, it seemed a lot? I don’t live there anymore either and I don’t know what was involved? I’ve always loved Louisa and still do. Were I ever too move back to KY, (and that’s not likely) it would be LC. And by the way, I’m as strong a Republican as you will find.

Wow!! That sure looks different!!!! I was born in Louisa n the old General Hospital n 1955, I’m a person who doesn’t like change so dead man’s curve doesn’t seem the same anymore.
