ESCAPED MARTIN COUNTY CRIMINAL: JOSHUA ANTHONY SCOTT.

Law enforcement in two counties are searching for an escaped prisoner in Johnson County, Kentucky.

According to the Martin County Sheriff’s Department, Martin County Jailer Boonie Mahon was transporting inmate Josh Anthony Scott, 33, when he escaped custody today just after 12:00 pm.

Deputies said Joshua Scott was able to get out of the vehicle at a red light and run off. This escape incident happened on US 23 near the W.R. Castle Memorial School and the Burger King in Johnson County.

There was no information available to identify who was driving the transport vehicle, what type of vehicle or what charges Scott was facing when he fled.

Deputies said Joshua Scott is wearing handcuffs, blue jeans, and has brownish-blonde hair.

Joshua Scott is considered dangerous. If you see Joshua Scott, do not approach him. Instead, call your local 911.

He may be your cousin Crystal but 33 isn’t a kid. Drugs don’t take hold of people, people take hold of drugs. A choice, nothing more; life is full of them.

I’m a little curious as to the training of the Martin County Jailer? I know they bought two police cars from the city of Inez, and one could reasonably assume they have screens and back doors that don’t open from the inside. Why does this happen? Last time the jailer got his transport vehicle stolen, and to the best of my knowledge never recovered? Could it be that Martin county residents might give some thoughts as too electing someone else to do this fairly simple job? The cops catch them, they are turned over to regional jail officials in Paintsville, the jailer has one job TRANSPORT them, a job he doesn’t appear to do very well!
