OUR SERIES LOOKING AT THE COUNTY’S TAXING DISTRICTS and other financial matters during these trying times is in its third week after we posted the budget summaries and salary lists for employees in the Lawrence County Fiscal Court and the City of Louisa.

We have been waiting for the information on the county’s largest tax user, the Lawrence Co. BOE but have not received them as of today, July 31. So we decided to go on to the county’s third largest tax recipient, the Lawrence County Library which gets just two percentage points less than the fiscal court.

Director Carlie Pelphrey sent the info the same day it was requested.

We will attempt to post the budget for ALL taxing districts to see where our burden of taxation is going.

County Clerk Chris Jobe said recently that the county has over $1 million in uncollected property taxes and the state is planning on severe cutbacks to county governments, SO IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO LOOK AT WHERE OUR TAX DOLLARS ARE BEING SPENT. The state legislature decided to leave the school system on the same budgets in SEEK monies as last year, so no major cuts are expected this year.

Here is the new budget for the library which gets 14.7 % of your tax dollar.

By sending all kids home to school buy them a i.pad . We wouldent need 10% teachers , 90 % school infrastructure , and there library be on i.pad . Hell would freeze over before someone would have the common sense to do it . I mean these liberal school teachers unions supported the destruction of coal industry . Yet it’s plain to see there no need for all these teachers .

the union is called FRIENDS OF COAL have you ever check to see what all of the money is used for by paying for the license plates
hint it sure is not for the coal miners
the orange clown said he was going to put the miners back to work
he has a coal operator over MSHA(fox guarding the hen house)
a coal lobbyist over the EPA and the coal company’s still can’t make it
i guess it’s like that wall he was going to build and Mexico going to pay for it
the orange clown couldn’t run a casino think about that

Well KAG, Obama never had a job or ran anything. He did get rich on the backs of taxpayers nonetheless!

You have no freaking idea what you are talking about. By the way , coal is gone thanks to the previous administration. And yes I know you used to work in Coal. It’s gone. Get over it and move on. I also lost my job because of the decline in the coal industry and regulations.

      • KAG says:

the previous administration has been gone almost 4 years now your orange clown said he was and i quote “i will bring the coal jobs back”
i bet you have a couple of those Friends of Coal plates just check and see where the money goes like that old saying sucker born every minute

Didn’t say anything about the orange man KAG. Just made a statement. Coal is Gone. It will make a comeback but not in our lifetime.

You have 4.6 million dollars and are collecting another 1.2 million this year… Revenue SHOULD BE shared with our school system (at least). Alternatively, they should return money to tax payers and drop rate. We don’t need another million dollar addition to our very nice public library. Who decides the rates?

    • KAG says:

      library board

    The library looks fantastic.

Hey Dems better research Marathon Oil. They just sold all their Super America stores to 7-11. Their considering closing some of their refineries. They will if Biden gets elected. His new green Deal pushed by his crazy far left progressive branch. Obama killed coal. Biden will destroy everything else. Your taxes will skyrocket. Please research Marathon Oil.

    • KAG says:

here’s some more research for you

      Marathon Petroleum Corp. Announces Agreement
for $21 Billion Sale of Speedway
      • 7-Eleven to acquire Speedway in $21 billion all-cash transaction
      • $16.5 billion estimated after-tax cash proceeds expected to be used to strengthen
balance sheet and return capital to shareholders
      • Establishes relationship with 7-Eleven anchored by long-term fuel supply agreements
for approximately 7.7 billion gallons per year, with additional growth opportunities

so 7-11 will be buying gas from marathon

Well it’s almost finished, the new renovations That is. Time to start over. Why does a library need all these accommodations ? I agree our schools are the learning for our kids. Adults it’s a handout to get on the computer and hand out.

    • KAG says:

because it’s not there own money they are spending

      • Charles says:

        their own money KAG.

    • John says:

Library tax is just that, library tax. Just like school tax. It can only be used for what it is for. I think it’s great that our library is expanding. You can gripe or you can utilize your library tax dollars by using it.

      • Charles says:

        Great post John!

  8. Frankly says:

Sarcasm for sure although its happening as we speak in Democrat run cities.

    • Charles says:

Yes it does! Democrats have one agenda, destroy this great nation.

  9. Tom says:

Bush left us with high deficit, Clinton cleaned up his mess. Bush 2 left us in recession and high unemployment and Obama brought us out of it and brought unemployment way,way down, now trump is taking us into a depression with high unemployment and thousands of people dying everyday and says it is what it is, but the democrats are trying to destroy the country. Wow. Please fact check me.

    • Charles says:

No Tom, let’s tell the real story. Clinton signed NAFTA and the world trade agreement into law, that cost the American workforce 85% of factories, and the jobs that went with them, as well as the service jobs that were attached. W inherited an economy ready to go into downfall because of your great criminal Clinton. He was then faced with 911 to boot. You liberals harp about “The Great Recession”, that I simply don’t remember? I had a job and did just fine, and so did many people. Obama came along and blundered about for 8 years, while causing the greatest division of America in its history. He tried to sign another trade agreement for the benefit of islamic nations of the middle east. Our great President stopped that one; re-negotiated NAFTA, and other Clinton/Obama disasters. built a thriving economy with the lowest unemployment rates, likely in history. Factories were and are coming back and the stock market is still 9000 points higher than it ever was under Obama or Clinton. And you liberal fools try to blame him with the China virus? President Trump has done more in one term, that actually helped Americans than dimorats have done in history!

      • Charles says:

Oh yea Tom, while Obama was bumbling he destroyed the coal and American oil, natural gas industries, along with many others. But since he NEVER had a job, I guess jobs weren’t all that important to him.
