Louisa Walmart employee tests positive for Covid-19

Walmart announced today that one of their employees had tested positive for Covid-19.

This news came after Walmart also made the announcement today that all their stores will require shoppers to wear masks or face coverings beginning Monday, July 20.

The individual who tested positive for the virus is not a resident of Lawrence County therefore the Lawrence County Health Department isn’t in charge of the case.  The individual is asymptomatic and had worked for a short period last Thursday and hasn’t worked since then, a store employee said.

Walmart store managers did not respond to a request for comment today.

“She was not in close contact with any other employees or customers and wore a mask and gloves while working as Walmart requires all employees to wear masks,” the employee said.

Walmart has performed deep cleaning of the entire store regardless if that employee was in that area, reported LC Health Dept. director Debbie Miller.

Ms. Miller has spoken with Walmart today and is completely confident that there is little to no risk.

“Both myself and our environmentalist have spoken with Walmart and we are completely confident that there is little to no risk to employees or the public,” Miller said.

Masks

Walmart states as the confirmed cases across the country have spiked and mandates already in place by many governments that masks will bring consistency across stores. To ensure consistency all stores will have a single entrance and there will be Health Ambassadors near the entrance to remind those without a mask of their new requirements. The ambassadors will receive special training to help make the process as smooth as possible for customers.

This is what some of the scientific experts said earlier this year. Trump quoted some of them but DID NOT say it!

“May 4, 2020 · Researchers want to know if the disease is seasonal, like colds. But while heat and humidity harm the virus in the lab, that’s not the same as real life.

“It is not yet known whether weather and temperature affect the spread of COVID-19. Some other viruses, like those that cause the common cold and flu, spread more during cold weather months but that does not mean it is impossible to become sick with these viruses during other months. There is much more to learn about the transmissibility, severity, and other features associated with COVID-19 and investigations are ongoing”.

WOW … it never ceases to amaze me about how many bullies there usually are in the comment section of a small town’s online newspaper! Hahaha … it’s sad but that’s what happens when people are made to stay at home / self isolate / quarantine themselves & not able to go to school, work or any place that is public involving any size crowd along with a ton of social distancing and other safety measures that are ordered all thanks to a deadly virus! 🤒🤧😷 EVERYONE gets BORED and starts picking on each other! I swear, if I make it through this by the time it’s all over with and we are finally able to walk outside into the sun light without being scared that we are going to catch COVID-19 from someone, my skin is going to be so pale that as soon as the light hits it I just know that I will be SEVERELY burnt … I will walk outside and all of a sudden start hearing a sizzle! Talk about being a Vampire!

I was there Saturday, 25th, and saw 4 or 5 people without one. When I asked a manager she said she would check with the “guard” posted at the front entrance. So either he isn’t enforcing it or they take them off after they come in. Employees should be able to ask/make them leave when they see them without one.

Your probably a die hard Democrat who votes strictly party only whether or not is the most outlandish thing imaginable to do. Continue to be an artist and draw your check which I’m sure you do. That’s bull. Was in the Barboursvill Wal-Mart yesterday, half of the people were not wearing mask and half of the employees had their masks pulled down below the nose. Two employees stood at the entrance doing nothing and people walking in left and right and did not even have a mask. Wal-Mart won’t even enforce the law golf the state. It has been mandatory for a week in WAv that mask be worn.

Louisa Walmart requires employees to wear masks????? Every time I am there the biggest percentage of them have their mask pulled down below their nose or below their nose and mouth. Does this mean I can also wear mine below my nose and mouth???? Great leadership Louisa Walmart!!!!!!

The employees at Wal Mart in Louisa and Cannonsburg wear their mask but I don’t think it counts when they wear it under their chin or just covering their mouth and not the nose. Might as well just take it OFF!!

  16. Smh says:

I see a lot of people complaining about how masks are being worn by employees but what no one is considering is those same people are wearing those masks for 8+ hours a day in the heat and humidity so you can run in there and buy your makeup and hair dye. Unless you are some one who has been threatened to lose their job if they refuse to wear one and therefore are forced to wear one to have a means of living then don’t get on here and complain because these people could have been like the other 90% and set at home, drew a check and let the places close down and you could have had to deal with your liver spots and gray roots showing.

    • Weezie says:

      Great reply!

    • Jim Smith says:

The complaint is the WAY employees are wearing their masks. Whether you wear it for 8 minutes or 8 hours, if it’s below the nose and/or mouth, it is TOTALLY ineffective! The fact that they technically “have one on” doesn’t apply. Many businesses have a rule of No shoes/no shirt/no service. By your standards of reasoning, if their shoes were hanging around their neck and their shirt was hanging through a belt loop, then by definition, they met the requirements. Absolutely not! I work in an operating room for 10+ hours every day. Do you think we are allowed to wear ours pulled down? If you were the patient, would you want ours pulled down or worn the proper way?

At TSC today, about 25 percent of the customers had on a mask and I didn’t see a single employee wearing one. So much for your requirements Mr. Beshear.
