The dismantling of statue honoring Confederate President Jefferson Davis was performed last week. Now some groups are asking for a woman or black person of distinction to take its place.

As chair of the Kentucky House Democratic Women’s Caucus and on its behalf, state Rep. Lisa Willner of Louisville has sent Governor Andy Beshear the attached letter calling for a woman to be selected for the next statue placed in the Capitol Rotunda.  It would replace the one of Jefferson Davis that was removed a little over a week ago.  In addition, Rep. Willner and the caucus request that the Rotunda have a rotating educational display of women and people of color until a statue is ready to be installed.

Lawrence/Carter Democrat Representative Kathy Hinkle joined the caucus by signing the letter.

The 19 members of the Kentucky House Democratic Women’s Caucus are Representatives Willner, Tina Bojanowski, Terri Branham Clark, McKenzie Cantrell, Kelly Flood, Angie Hatton, Kathy Hinkle, Joni Jenkins, Nima Kulkarni, Mary Lou Marzian, Patti Minter, Ruth Ann Palumbo, Josie Raymond, Rachel Roberts, Attica Scott, Maria Sorolis, Cherlynn Stevenson, Ashley Tackett Laferty, and Susan Westrom.

The civil war was not North vs. south but rather Northern dems and with southern Democrates no republican owned slaves Abe was a republican He led the charge for freedom and he was killed over it It’s unfair to blame the south for such a disgrace as slavery it seems History is for the winners true or not pay attention they are trying to make slaves of us all .
