Representative Robert Goforth Arraigned “Pleads not Guilty” on strangulation charges

A Kentucky state representative was arraigned in Laurel County on domestic assault, strangulation and terroristic threatening charges from an incident that allegedly occurred on April 21 and he has pleaded not guilty.

On the morning of April 21, a woman came into the 911 dispatch center looking to speak with a sheriff’s deputy about a domestic assault. According to the police reports, the woman said that Goforth tried to “hog tie” her several times, hit her on the forehead, and tried to strangle her with an ethernet cord, all while three children were inside the home.

Goforth was arrested and charged with strangulation, domestic assault, and terroristic threatening.  He was released on a $25,000.00 bond later that day.

Goforth, Republican candidate for Governor last Spring but lost,  is up for reelection in June and there have been calls for him to resign.

He has a preliminary hearing on June 9th at 11 am.
