Former LCHS graduate Skylar Chapman earns UPike Soccer MVP along with being Valedictorian

Skylar Chapman was the definition of a Student-Athlete in her time at UPike

Pikeville, Ky — Former Lawrence Co. Soccer Star and recent University of Pikeville graduate Skylar Chapman was recently named UPike women’s Soccer MVP and was also the Valedictorian for the 2020 Graduating class.

Chapman played in and started all 61 games of her career, She finished with 12 goals from her midfielder position, She received women’s soccer player of the year her sophomore year. Was academic all mid-south conference sophomore, junior, and senior year. Academic All-American junior and senior year. Senior year was Women’s soccer and Mid-South conference champion of character honoree.

She was also captain of the team for three years.

“… I had an amazing experience in the classroom and on the field at UPIKE. I am grateful for the opportunity to have been able to continue my soccer career at UPIKE, and am thankful for the coaching staff and teammates that helped me along the way.”

“… I had the privilege of getting to play with my cousin, Kylie Maynard again, which meant the world to me. She is so talented and getting to play with her felt like we were back at Lawrence County.”

“… My senior season was unfortunately cut short from tearing my ACL and meniscus and having surgery. Having the support of my teammates, family, friends, and coaches got me through that hard time.”

“… Im focusing on PR and Marketing with my communication degree. Hoping to continue working with Lawrence County Soccer Programs.”
