PATIENT CASE #3 OF THE NOVEL CORONA VIRUS COMES JUST THREE DAYS AFTER THE REPORT OF THE SECOND CASE IN MARTIN COUNTY

APRIL 20, 2020 – written by WADE QUEEN

On Saturday, April 18, 2020, the Martin County Health Department  confirmed a third case of COVID-19 in a Martin County resident.

This newest case of the novel corona virus comes just 3 days after a second report of someone having tested positive was detected in Martin County.

There are now 3 positive cases in the county. Health officials are working with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Kentucky Department of Public Health (KDPH) to identify and contact all those who may have come in contact with the resident.

Additional details about the person cannot be provided because of medical privacy laws.

This latest COVID-19 comes just three days after the Martin County Health Department confirmed a second case of the novel coronavirus in Martin County.

In a post Wednesday, April 15 on the MCHD Facebook page, the health department says a second case of COVID-19 has been confirmed in a Martin County resident. The post stated the Martin County Health Department was responding to the second novel corona virus case in conjunction with state and federal health authorities.

“While the risk to the general public is low, health officials are working with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Kentucky Department of Public Health (KDPH) to identify and contact all those who may have come in contact with the resident,” the health department says.

The age and sex of the second novel corona virus patient was not released to the public.

The new cases come just more than three weeks after the first COVID-19 case was confirmed in Martin County. That case was announced on March 23.
