Latest Coronavirus Updates from Kentucky Republicans

President Trump and Congressional Republicans have taken prompt and direct action to protect the American public from the coronavirus pandemic. You can read more from RNC Research here.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has been working to pass the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, which will get much-needed relief to American workers, families and small businesses as rapidly as possible.

However, DC Democrats have been blocking this legislation. The Republican Party of Kentucky has called on Democrats like U.S. House Budget Chair John Yarmuth and Gov. Andy Beshear to speak out against this partisan gamesmanship.

Senator Rand Paul recently published an op-ed on his proposed legislation, the VITAL Act, which would remove red tape from labs creating diagnostic tests. Senator Paul also became the first member of the Senate to test positive for the coronavirus. Please join us in praying for his swift recovery.

Congressman Andy Barr joined Spectrum News to discuss the federal response to the coronavirus.

Congressman James Comer recently outlined the details of federal coronavirus relief so far.

Congressman Brett Guthrie has introduced bipartisan legislation to protect Americans from counterfeit medical devices.

Congressman Thomas Massie and his staff are reminding constituent small-business owners how to connect with assistance for COVID-related programs.

Congressman Hal Rogers is continuing to update constituents with the latest on efforts to fight the outbreak – read more from his office here.

Secretary of State Michael Adams joined WKYT to discuss the impact of the coronavirus on Kentucky’s primary election, which has been postponed until June after his bipartisan action.

Treasurer Ball is assisting Kentuckians with disabilities who have STABLE Kentucky savings accounts be aware of all they can use this money for, such as health, transportation, housing, and more. She is also encouraging parents and teachers now facing homeschooling to utilize a database she created of financial education resources for students, called Student Strategies. The Treasury continues processing essential payments like unemployment insurance, retirement payments, state payroll and child support, CHFS benefit payments and revenue and labor cabinet tax payments.

Attorney General Daniel Cameron partnered with his counterpart in Tennessee to return medical supplies from a suspected interstate price gouging scheme. Senators Robert Stivers, Albert Robinson, Ralph Alvarado and other legislators joined in to distribute these supplies to Kentucky first responders.

Delivering remarks regarding the state’s ongoing efforts to combat the spread of coronavirus, President Stivers said that everyone, regardless of political affiliation, is on the same page to make sure this doesn’t impact the state of Kentucky like it has other places.

Auditor of Public Accounts Mike Harmon has implemented changes to procedures in the auditor’s office to continue serving the public while encouraging social distancing.

Agriculture Commissioner Ryan Quarles recently highlighted how the coronavirus is impacting our agricultural industry.

Kentucky House Republicans like Health and Family Services Committee Chair Rep. Kimberly Poore Moser are reminding Kentuckians how important our medical professionals during this outbreak. And Rep. Steve Riley shared how an assisted living facility in his community is rising to the call to keep residents safe.
