CARTER ANNOUNCES COURTHOUSE RULES DURING VIRUS CRISIS

Staff will work but 'no visitors'

Lawrence County Judge Executive Phillip Carter conducted a meeting Sunday afternoon with courthouse offices and county officials. The purpose of the meeting was to make plans with issues relating to the Coronavirus-19. After deliberations on ideas the following plan of action will be put in place.

The Lawrence County Courthouse will remain open under normal work hours for business only no visitors. The rear entrance to the courthouse will remain locked so the public will need to enter and exit through the front entrance. Hand sanitizer will be placed at the entrance and all persons should use upon entering and exiting the building.

The courthouse maintenance staff will routinely disinfect all door knobs and handles as well as all counters in each office.

All other county operated buildings including community centers will be open for work staff only. No public meetings or activities will take place at such buildings.

During this crisis we encourage all citizens to not panic but to apply normal common sense practices such as washing their hands regularly, staying home if sick and avoiding large crowds. We also encourage every citizen to check on and help their neighbors and especially their elderly neighbors.

With due diligence hopefully this crisis will be over with sooner rather than later and we all can return to our normal lives. If anyone has any questions they can contact the Judges office at 606-638-4102.

Lawrence Co. Jude/Executive,

Phillip Carter

From Deputy Judge/Exec Vince Doty:

###

“…We are limiting public access to those that actually are conducting business in one of the offices located in the courthouse. Visitors refer to people that do not have any business to conduct but rather are here for social reasons. Believe it or not we have a lot of people that come in during the day that just want to talk about everyday events or sit on the benches downstairs and talk to one another. With this said there are more restrictions Governor  Beshear is putting in place today that will limit any public entrance into state run agencies, this will include the PVA office as well as the offices at the judicial center.”

Has anybody in Lawrence County been diagnosed with COVID 19?

I’ll have to admit this seems like a bunch of incoherent babbling, old Phil definitely needs a proofreader. Is the courthouse open for business or not? One place it says open but no visitors, which would indicate workers but no one else. Then it says: The rear entrance to the courthouse will remain locked so the public will need to enter and exit through the front entrance. So can you get in to do business as usual or not? This country’s leadership is just about as incompetent as the country’s. MAGA my rear end.
