Fort Gay, W. Va. — Senior Blake Sturgell scored a career high 23 points on Senior night as the Rebels improved to 11-10 with a 75-53 Section victory over Hannan Tuesday at Rebel Arena.

Raygan Meddings and Blake Sturgell were honored Tuesday night before the Rebels victory over Hannan
Sturgell, the Rebels lone Senior, played his last regular season game at Rebel Arena and put on a show for the home folks with his career high night.
Tyler Johnson finished with 14 points playing through an injury, Zack Ball tallied 10 points, Steven Ward 8 points, Jesse Muncy 7 points, Anthony Lovins 3 points, Austin Salmons, Trey Brumfield and David Dingess 2 points each.

Man 77 Tolsia 48 ( Monday )

The Rebels finished 2-2 in the WV HIT with lackluster performance at Robert C. Byrd. Tolsia starter Rob Cantrell left the game in the first half with an eye injury and never returned.
Tolsia led 40-31 early in the second half before the proverbial wheels came off.
Tyler Johnson led the Rebels with 17 points, Austin Salmons finished with 13 points and 13 rebounds, Jesse Muncy and Zack Ball scored 10 points each, Blake Sturgell 5 points and Steven Ward 2 points.
Tolsia will close out the regular season with a trip to Olive Hill tonight to face West Carter who lost to Ashland who is 28-0 and the number one team in Kentucky Tuesday on a 60 foot buzzer beater 57-54.

Tolsia Head Coach Todd Maynard

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… (ON SENIOR BLAKE STURGILL) One if the hardest working players I have been around, Puts everything he has every time he steps foot on the floor, whether it’s a game or a practice. Going to miss him next year when basketball season rolls around. We have had our battles for sure, I think we are a lot alike and sometimes that shows. Was happy he had a game like he did on Senior night. He truly deserves it.”

Tolsia Senior Blake Sturgell

PLAYER’S COMMENT

“… Going to miss all of my teammates. I can’t believe how fast it has gone. I try to give everting I got every time I play. I want to thank my family and all of the coaches for their support the last four years.”

Raygan Meddings is also a four year senior. In four years she has achieved a 2017 WV Single A State Cheer Runner up, Two time Region 4 Champion,. 2019 region 4 runner up and has made three WV Cheer State Championship tournaments. Cheerleaders should be recognized for the hard work also.
