Tolsia sweeps Carter Christian in Girl/Boy Doubleheader, South Harrison comes to Rebel Arena today

Fort Gay, W. Va. — Ten out of twelve Lady Rebels scored in a 63-18 victory over Carter Christian Academy in their final home game of season Friday night at Rebel Arena.

 

#20 Jace Litton playing defense against #10 Taylor Mayo of Carter Christian. Litton pulled down 10 rebounds in the Lady Rebel victory Friday night.

Katie Marcum led Tolsia who improved to 10-8 on the year with 16 points and 11 rebounds, Trinity Muncy tallied 8 points, Autumn Block 7 points, Julie Boone 6 points, Kylea Pollinger and Selena Browning 5 points each, Lyndsie Wilson, Elizabeth Johnson, Kerigan Salmons and Jace Litton 4 points each, Litton also corralled 10 rebounds.

The Lady Rebels hit 2 three pointers and went 3 of 12 from the free throw line.

Gracie Greenhill and Grace Williams scored 8 points each for the Lady Warriors who went 5 of 13 from the line and hit 1 three pointer in the contest.

Twelve out of Thirteen Rebels scored in a 79-52 Home victory Friday night as four out of five starters only played half of the first quarter.

Tolsia Freshman Colton Austin races to the basket for two of his team high 15 points in the Rebels victory over Carter Christian.

Freshman Colton Austin scored 15 points to lead the way, Freshman David Dingess tallied 13 points, Steven Ward netted 12 points, Trey Brumfield 7 points including a three pointer, Dylan Dawson 7 points including 2 three pointers, Zack Ball and Austin Salmons 6 points each, Blake Sturgell, Rob Cantrell and Elijah Fox 3 points each, Tyler Johnson and Zack Walker 2 points each.

Tolsia hit 16 of 24 from the line and connected on 6 three pointers.

Carter Christian was led by Johnny Zurdema and Ethan Moore with 16 and 8 points respectively.

The Warriors hit 2 three pointers and went 17 of 22 from the charity stripe.

The Rebels will face South Harrison in the WV HIT with JV at Noon and Varsity right after at Rebel Arena.

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… It was great for the young guys to get a lot of time on the floor. Happy to see guys score their first varsity points as well. The bench was upbeat from the tip.”

“… We want to thank Carter Christian for coming on short notice. They have improved since last year give Coach Mayo a ton of credit. They play really hard and you can tell that comes from him and his staff.”

“… Should be a good one today at Rebel Arena we hope to see a good crowd for a day game. Tolsia students get in free so hopefully the Blue Zoo is out in full force.”
