James Dean, 76, of Fort Gay, WV lost his battle with cancer and went on to heaven to be with this daughter Mary Ann Dean and his parents Fred and Mary “Elsie” Dean on Tuesday, December 17, 2019. He will be missed but surely not forgotten.

James was a wonderful husband and loving father who lived his life for his beautiful wife of 52 years Judy Ann Dean; children James Lewis Dean, Jr., David Lewis Dean, Mary Ann Dean and Fred Christopher Dean; six grandchildren he was so proud of: James (Trey) Lewis Dean III, Michael Christopher Dean, Karli Ann Dean, Kolten Christopher Dean, Logan Dean, and Lakyn Lee Ann Bryant; three great grandchildren and one on the way; two special brother-in-laws Scottie and Joyce Workman and Roger Workman; loving nieces and nephews Dale, Loretta, Jeanie, and Becky.

James was a member of Tabors Creek Baptist Church, was a Kentucky Colonel, and retired from the railroad. He was a 50 year member of Vinson Lodge #66 AF&AM.

James requested to be cremated. He wished that his life be celebrated for now he is with his Savior.  He wants to see his family and friends again in Heaven for a great reunion day. Think of him with a smile of your face and warmth in your heart. He wanted no tears, only memories of happiness and talks of joy.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations of sympathy take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society.

Young Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Mr. Dean and his family.
