* Mayor Harold Slone stated in his opening remarks that the water lines rebuilt projects in the city are at very end of completion, with only one site remaining to fix, in around the Best Hardware area, where they need a to replace a pressure valve that is underground in a pit, and they have to order a certain type of pressure valve that meets state and federal requirements of having so much US steel in the make of the valve. One that is installed sometime later in the month, the city is finished with the entire project. Mayor Slone added he had talked to every property owner who had the new water lines laid, and that all of them had given positive feedback about the work and care of their property was taken care of.

* On the city I&I sewer project which will alleviate pressure on the sewer plant by diverting rainwater runoff from the plant, mayor Slone stated he was going to Frankfort to get additional loan funding for the project, as the bids by companies for sewer project keep coming back the same, of $400,000 to $500,000 over the $3 million the city has budgeted for the sewer project. Mayor Slone, who said the same thing at the November meeting, said that the reason for that is there is unprecedented construction projects boom across the state, and that engineering and construction companies can pick and choose want they want and for what price. Mayor Slone ended with any additional financial help for the sewer project from the state via a loan grant, the city would only have to pay back half of money in the process of the further funding.

* Mayor Slone reported that the city Christmas decorations, which were only put up in the last couple of days, was due to only Lycom does that, with their bucket trucks,; and due to the Thanksgiving holiday being later than normal this year, with the shorter Christmas shopping season crunch, mayor Slone said that Lycom CEO Steve Lycans told him that they were understaffed for the past two to three weeks to get them up on any particular day. Mayor Slone claimed that previous city leadership had the decorations put up by city workers up in loader blade buckets, Slone stated that he banned that method when took officer to due to the dangerous risk to the city workers.

* City Clerk Kathy Compton reacted harshly when she learned that while she was in in her office a copy the ordinance involving the payback agreement on street lights with Kentucky Power to present to the council just before the meeting stated, the KY. Power lawyer passed out his own version of the ordinance, which he claimed was the same as the one given by Ms. Compton to the mayor and city council, but formatted in a different way.

City Clerk Compton had a problem with a KY. Power lawyer, which led city attorney Eldred “Bud” Adams to admit to Ms. Compton that he was partly to blame for the mixup, saying he had told the KY. legal rep it was OK to pass out his version, because he read it and it was essentially the same as the one the city had on file from the previous city council meeting. That did not sit well with Ms. Compton.

But the meeting took a second confrontational turn, when mayor Slone suddenly began grilling the Ky. Power attorney about how KY. Power in the legal language of the ordinance, it showed what the city would be doing for Kentucky Power, but nothing was shown on what Kentucky Power was giving back to the city.

The KY. Power lawyer gave a legal language answer, which caused mayor Slone to to repeatedly ask the same question about the contract.

However it is better for everyone to hear and watch what was exactly said during this part of the city council meeting by going to (the fun begins at 8:48 mark) HERE (CITY COUNCIL MEETING-PART 1).

Holy cow!! Who wrote this article??!!! It is so hard to read with all of the grammatical errors. A kindergartener could have composed it better!!!

Please tell us some of the grammatical errors? I read it, and didn’t see any. Let’s look at your own. One exclamation point after “Holy cow” ???!!! (what does that mean?). Why were three explanation points needed after better?

Now, as to “Who wrote this article”? It clearly states the writer was Wade Queen, is the real problem here, you can’t read? Or perhaps you have a vendetta against Mr. Queen; I think that’s the real fact, isn’t it Cit…I mean Stupid? 🙂

  3. Citizen says:

Chuck, you must be closely related to the writer, judging by your own terrible writing. Should your first sentence end with a question mark? Also, I believe it is an exclamation point, not explanation point. Your second paragraph is a mess from the beginning. Your lack of proper punctuation is embarrassing for an adult.
To “Stupid” – Be careful. Chuck has scolded me before for criticizing his family’s writing skills.

Yep, I misspelled exclamation didn’t I, (Office Word actually did). Have you started talking to yourself now? (That was a question). You, I and the Lazer know you are really stupid, (Oh I loved saying that). I use my real name, I don’t hide, not scared and don’t wear ladies under garments like you do! Citizen you a sorry excuse for a human, and you are a coward.

Apparently Charles, you write the same way if you cannot still see the errors. The article has been corrected some but still has plenty of errors that make it hard to read and follow. I clearly didn’t say I was better but even when I can’t follow a story, it has to be very poorly composed. I clearly did not blame Mr. Queen since I do know that sometimes the writers are given an article and they simply put it all together into a story. Nothing wrong with that.

Instead of talking about the errors, point them out. Explain how it’s poorly composed. Saying it doesn’t make it so.

      • Citizen says:

Do you really want me to point the mistakes out because you aren’t smart enough to recognize them yourself? Aww, that’s pitiful.
No, you didn’t spell exclamation. You used a totally different word. Big difference.
        Merry Christmas!
